I assist the information specialist in the administration of the Information Resource Centre (IRC)

Information provision and improved information sharing: Ensuring effective access to knowledge and information sources available in the Competition Commission IRC. Keep abreast of developments/train people on different data bases such as Oxford University Press, Ezeedex, Kluwer Competion law International and LexisNexis (local and international).

Information Searches, setting up alerts of the different information sources for patrons.

Reviewing of the IRC circulation procedure and shelf reading and shelving of books.

Migration of print information sources to digital; E-books project, evaluate new e-resources.

Collection management: acquisition, cataloguing and classification of newly acquired items, Books; Periodicals and Pamphlets. Budgeting.

Updating of loose-leaf publications.

IRC Share Point System: ensure that content pages of new journals are added and that it is up to date. Stock Take of IRC Book Collection.

Manage newspapers and periodicals subscriptions, follow up and claim non delivery.

Assist in managing and developing the Library: liaise with stakeholders; libraries-DTI and IDC library regarding resource sharing and special projects.

• The position has responsibility for ordering new resources from vendors and providing access to the library’s collections through the public catalogue by undertaking copy cataloguing functions.

• Verify details of items approved for purchase

• Select and download catalogue records at order point from Libraries Australia, OCLC or vendor databases

• Enter order details onto the library acquisitions system and send order in the appropriate format
