Perform many duties as a certified QMED. Oil and grease moving parts, such as gears, shafts and bearings of engines, deck and auxiliary equipment. Examines machinery for specified pressure and flow of lubricants. Reads pressure and temperature gauges then record data. Assists engineer in overhauling, adjusting, and repairing machinery, engines and pumps. Operates some vessel equipment under the supervision of engineer or mate. Transfer fuel and bulk under supervision of licensed engineer. Connect and disconnect fuel/lube oil hose. Monitor the sound tanks as fuel/oil is being pumped on.
