•Order VA issued patient tablets for CVT into the home encounters based on policy and provider recommendation

•Schedule, maintain, troubleshoot, and utilize software or web-based programs for all Telehealth modalities using the applicable systems, such TMP, VISTA, VMR, VA Video Connect, etc.

•Possess a good working knowledge of internet use, bandwidth, and other service providers

•Complete all training required by national Telehealth Training Center to keep competencies on all Telehealth modalities or as directed by supervisor based on current programming need

•Works with staff from other location

•Sets up required equipment and verifies that it is in proper working order prior to visit

•Bridges and connects Telehealth call as needed

•Response to inquiries from patients, family members or caregivers (verifying proper authority for information)

•Provides cross-coverage to other Telehealth staff as needed

•Schedules, cancels or changes appointment (either patient or physician request) per the standards of VA Pittsburgh and Telehealth

•Verifies that all patient encounters of Technician side are completed prior to the end of day and notifies medical professional responsible for patient if their side encounter is not completed, when necessary

•Initiates consults as needed appropriately

•All errors will be corrected within 48 hours of notification

•Educates providers and patients on the use and functionality of the equipment

•Troubleshoots equipment and connectivity issues and keeps a log of all interactions

•Collaborates with the National Telehealth Helpdesk, OI&T, BioMed, and other Telehealth staff to install or replace equipment and solve equipment and connectivity issues in a timely manner

•Utilizes software programs (VISTA, CPRS, Excel, VISN Reports, etc.) to collect and sort data

•Performs data validation to ensure that Telehealth workload is captured

•Identifies orphans and corrects coding errors and other data inconsistencies

•Notifies supervisor of significant data issues

•All errors will be corrected within 48 hours of identification

•Communicates courteously and respectfully (orally and in writing) with all internal and external customers

•The Technician must have the ability to discuss complex and difficult health concerns with the medical provider (physician, nurse, etc.) about patient issues or concerns with patient care

•Provides proper customer service (to all stakeholders)

•Installs, maintains, and inventories all video-conferencing technologies, clinical peripherals, and store and forward, and home Telehealth technologies

•Screens patients for appropriateness for diabetic retinal imaging. Initiates diabetic surveillance consult, obtains subjective and objective observations to complete consult, and provides education to patients on their eye health

•Obtains retinal images using a retinal camera. Upon completion of image confirm and transfer image, and then delete image from retinal camera workstation

•Ability to communicate orally with persons of varying educational and cultural backgrounds including patients, employees, supervisors, and other medical staff Talks courteously and respectfully to all internal, external customers, and employees

•Answers telephone promptly, within three rings when possible, identifies self, team, and asks “May I help you”. Asks caller's permission to be put on hold and does not leave the caller on hold for more than one minute, when possible. Informs caller when call needs to be transferred, informs caller of extension and team for transfer, and ensures recipient when call is available
