Field Technician at the Cheswick Power Station

My duties are servicing and maintaining a magnesium hydroxide injection system. This

includes taking daily readings of water, chemical and air pressures along with dilution and flow rates. I maintain water pumps, chemical pumps and injectors that are used to

distribute the magnesium thru out the boiler. I do bi-weekly slag inspections of the

boiler to insure proper dosage and application of product. I download my findings and

create a report that goes to my Project Manger which is then forwarded to the power

plant. I receive tanker trucks and off load product into a 12,000 gallon tank. I also

monitor the temperature, tank level and daily product usage. I have completed OSHA 10

and OSHA 30 programs and have a very safe work history.

Mechanic/Welder

I worked in power plants doing repair work to boilers. This included fitting tubes

to headers to be welded. I worked with a crane to load and unload material and

rig tube panels to be lifted into position for fitting and welding. I am a three position

plate welder and I can also tig weld and have worked with various hand tools, power

tools, and cutting torches.

Forge Shop

Worked in the forge shop performing various duties which included working on a rolling mill. I also operated a 2000 ton and a 4000 ton hydraulic press. I was also responsible for cutting and etching samples for lab testing. I operated a band saw, a circle saw, a metal sheer, and overhead crane. I performed other general shop duties. I was moved to the Refining Department where my duties included pulling a charge of material to melt, loading the charge into an electron beam furnace and melting the material to make an ingot. I also did repairs to the furnace and maintained the melt chamber.

Government Sales

Reviewed government purchase request solicitations and military specifications required for each bid. Obtained quotes from vendors on procuring the exact items needed which included Material Certifications and Certificates of Compliance. The job also included reading military drawings, placing the orders with the vendors and following up on orders to ensure that they were received on time. I also filed the proper paperwork with the government on any delivery extensions that may have been needed for our suppliers that could not meet their original shipping dates. I also worked in the warehouse as a back-up if needed.

Warehouse/Inside Sales/Field Support

Worked in the warehouse assembling and maintaining actuated valve packages for industrial use. This included the maintenance and calibration of air operated actuators, electro-pneumatic positioners and limit switches, fabrication of Teflon lined pipe spools and the maintenance of plug and ball valves. I was also trained by the Resistoflex Corporation in the manufacturing of rubber and braided steel hose assemblies. I also pressure tested the assemblies before shipment to customers. I traveled to customers facilities and trained their personal on repairing and calibration of products. Other warehouse duties included receiving stock and shipping of orders via UPS or various other carriers. In January 1997 I was promoted to the Inside Sales Department where I provided quotes to customers, placed orders and followed up on quotes that I had given. I also provided support to outside sales as well as technical support to end users.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

I am a three position plate welder and can also use a cutting torch along with various hand tools and grinders.

EDUCATION:

Graduated June 1980, Allegheny High School, Pittsburgh PA. Attended Columbus Vocational Technical School for welding in my senior year 1980.
