EXPERIENCE:
●I worked as a public librarian assistant for two months at Springbok Public Library in 2016, where I was responsible for digital and ICT queries, book shelving, customer services, and stocktaking. I also gained valuable experience working with Brocade (SLIMS) and have a good understanding of how this system functions.
●Briefed patrons on how the library systems work, as part of voluntary work, and helped with general library queries and the check in and check out of library materials. I also did book shelving and shelf reading at the Kuilsriver Public Library in 2017.
●Engineered and supervised the hostel rugby team, Kovacs student village, as part of the University of the Western Cape’s rugby programme. I was also part of the marketing team that maximized the team’s exposure to more students, in 2019. Along with the coaches, I was also on the directing and management committee.
●Expanded my knowledge in the field of library science where I completed a practical fieldwork programme at Kuilsriver Public Library in 2020.
●In 2020 I analysed my skills and knowledge through doing our Practical fieldwork programme at the University of the Western Cape Academic Library.
●In 2021 I was part of an EPWP Internship programme, where I worked as Librarian Assistant in charge of the non-fiction section and other librarian duties such as assisting patrons with material management and queries, and general clerical work. In that same period I was part of the Stocktaking team where I gained more experience in the administration and shelving department.

School attended : Northern Cape High School, Kimberley, Northern Cape Province
Tertiary Education : Completed my Library and Information Studies (NQF Level 8) degree during December 2020 at the University of the Western Cape. Modules include: Library Science, Information Science and Political Science.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
●An ability to communicate efficiently in oral and written English, and Afrikaans. Plus great customer service skills.
●Having a high work rate, being a confident and competent person that adapts quickly to new environments and personnel is just some the qualities I possess.
●Critical and analytical thinking combined with my problem solving and leadership skills, which allows me to organize and plan tasks thoroughly.
●Computer literacy in MS Office (Word and Excel).
●Experience in working with Symphony (UKS Workflows), Brocade (SLIMS) and little to fair experience in Inter Library Loans.
●Great understanding of bibliographic classification systems including Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and Library of Congress Classification (LC).
●Substantial library referencing and online researching skills, with a fair amount of experience in literature searches via research databases. Experience working with library related technology such as Ebscohost and Sabinet.
●Fair understanding and experience in with working digital literacy systems.
HOBBIES
●My hobbies are traveling, expanding my knowledge via reading and spending time with my friends and family.
●I find interest in the human mind, sports in general, visual arts and learning more about different cultures.
●In my free time I like to partake in sports and exercise my body as often as possible, and I like to spend my time indulging in the beauty of nature.
