Construction Site Internship July- September 2018
I worked in a team with Arch. Maxim Julien on his winning project conducted by Foundation for Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Lebanon. We focused on creating a close relationship between religion and the environment. the FFRL Center as a campus with dedicated and diverse spaces for a mutual encounter between diverse communities in Lebanon. The project is to be entirely built from natural, recyclable, and locally sourced materials collected from the surrounding area to develop a particular passive climate strategy achieving an energy-efficient project with a modest budget.
I participated within a team in Home Competition promoted by Young Architects Competitions. We proposed urban intervention that focused on abandoned building in Beirut and redesigned them to create vibrant public spaces that enhance social activities that City of Beirut lacks. In other words, our intention was to return life to Beirut city by injecting social hubs in the existing abandoned buildings. I worked as an intern with the Previous Dean of ARCHIDES, faculty of architecture in AZM University, Jamal Abed (RIP) on a large-scale urban design project for the Municipality of Tripoli, Lebanon. In this internship, I worked on urban design that focused on creating a social, environmental and economic sustainability. Also, I worked on the architectural design of the proposed building typologies. I went into different construction sites (Arch. Nadim Karam, Arch. Abdul Karim Baroud, etc.) from which I saw the other side of architecture that I cannot find in academic courses in the campus. Construction site visits take me closer to the real life, I learnt new things from workers that university cannot give to me, I understood the relationship between the architect, client and workers. I am recently graduated junior architect with all needed skills in my domain. During my studying years, I worked in different projects with my instructors and the dean of the faculty to gain more experience and understand work life. I am seeking employment that will make best use of my skills and allow me to develop them further.
