I wrote news releases for local media on behalf of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, then a two-year college but later converted into a four-year institution as part of the University of Arkansas system, which also includes the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Southwest American and the Arkansas Traveler

I worked as a student summer intern at the Southwest American, where I also had published free-lance articles in the "A Place For Poets" column in the Sunday edition from 1964 to 1977. I was awarded a prize for my poem, "Dynasty of Months," published in that poetry column in 1977. I won another poetry award in the children’s poetry division, that is, poetry written by adults for children for
my poem "Granny Pixie". I was then a member of the North Carolina Poetry Society, and my poem appeared in Pine Songs, the awards annual published by the NC Poetry Society.. I had another poem, "Smoke Rings" published in the later 1970’s in the Charlotte Observer. I have recently submitted a poetry collection to be considered for a poetry award at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. SKILLS
I have excellent verbal and communication skills. I am computer-proficient - 10+ years I am an experience poet, free-lance writer, and visual artist. I enjoy music, reading, and film.
