EXPERIENCE

NOVEMBER 2009 – FEBRUARY 2021

ED ADMITTING SUPERVISOR, University medical center

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of 14 Admitting/Discharge Representatives in the areas of Adult Emergency Department, Pediatric Emergency Department, Trauma and Perinatal Unit of 16 employees and 7 per diems. Ensured that department functions were carried out according to policies, procedures and expectations while on shift.

Managed department work and problem solved which required me to engage in staffing actions daily. Complete daily schedules and assign assignments, direct the work of others and monitor key metrics while on shift.

Review Quality and Accountability process, reporting of statistics and ensures compliance of all work-related activities. Work required familiarity with the department and/or hospital policies, services, layout and organization.

Assisted Patient Access Registrars through on the job training, education and registration support. Provided feedback to the management regarding performance issues of the department staff and overall effectiveness of department policies, procedures and practices.

Kept overtime hours to a minimum of 1 hour by ensuring work was detail and patient registrations were complete. Flexed employees' home.

Review Kronos payroll system daily. Monitored productivity and attendance.

Billing Representative for Emergency Room services. Handled all aspects of electronic billing through Misys.

Assisted in payment posting from Explanation of Benefits, Reconcile Accounts Receivable and wrote appeals. Assisted in daily mail that included insurance Explanation of Benefits, patients' correspondences, denials, Worker’s Compensation paperwork and HCFA forms.

Direct interaction with collection agencies in resolving delinquent accounts. Payment posting from Explanation of Benefits. Updated office staff and physicians with any coding changes and update from Medicare and various other insurances companies.

Ran weekly and monthly reports to monitor insurance payments and patient's balances. Problem identifier and solver. Maintained balance performance in areas of production and quality.

Managed multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Implemented new effective office policy to create better work flow. Held monthly meetings.

Coordinated payroll with Human Resource responsibilities including new hire paperwork, salary compensations, time off requests, employee evaluations from 90 day to yearly and employee termination.
