Summary
Over 30 years of experience in the design and drafting of industrial piping systems and supports along with associated foundation and structural steel design. Extensive experience with process and utility piping, plant/equipment layout for various types of facilities including steel mills, oil refineries, chemical plants, food processing and electric generating stations. Project Experience
BP – Whiting, Indiana
Assorted Refinery Walk Down Projects: Senior Designer involved in various refinery piping walk down projects concerning replacement or modifications of existing piping and support systems throughout the refinery. Responsible for the creation of all required piping field measurements, isometric sketches, bill of material and support design.
Fluidized Catalytic Unit (FCU) 500: Assigned to various projects to verify accuracy of shop piping. Lead Designer on replacement of main “Cat Drop” catalyst piping for FCU-500, utilizing CADPIPE modeling, Cloudworx scans and surveying tie points for creation of 3D model of entire piping system. Pipe was of alloy material, partially refractory-lined. Responsibilities included complete piping design, as well as Assistance in the coordination efforts of the piping design with the stress analysis and structural departments. Created all system isometrics and shop spool drawings, including bills of material.
Fresh Express – Salinas, California
Facility Walkdown for Acid Cleaning System for Produce: Senior Designer responsible for walking down the facility for the creation of P & ID’s and verification of equipment locations, for the installation of a new acid cleaning system for produce cleansing. Facility consisted of (13) separate lines of production.
American Maize – Hammond, Indiana
Senior Designer responsible for walk downs and documentation of existing piping systems, support steel, instrumentation and future tie-in locations in preparation for food grade corn syrup system expansion and new tank farm arrangement. Ultimately responsible for creating general arrangement drawings, new piping design, tie-in details and support steel modifications.
Abbott Laboratories – North Chicago, Illinois
Senior Designer assigned to production of all routing and support development drawings required for relocation of plant natural gas supply piping to plant boiler systems in addition to checking various drawings produced. Project required extensive field work, drawing research and strict adherence to client drawing specifications.
Reichhold Chemicals – Durham, North Carolina
Senior Designer assigned to the development of all drawings concerning the relocation and modification of all underground utility piping for a major plant expansion. Utilities included firewater, process and sanitary sewers and potable water.
Pinnacle West Energy – Phoenix, Arizona
Senior Designer assigned to the routing and checking of various piping systems through the 3D plant model along with isometric detailing of piping, utilizing a decaling program. Assigned on site during construction to assist contractor in pipe routing and support modifications as required in the field.
Inland Steel – Chicago, Illinois
Mechanical Department Supervisor/Senior Designer responsible for layout, detailing and checking of all drawings concerning the Hot Blast Main, Back Draft System and Mixer Mains for Blast Furnace No. 6 reline, including detail drawings for shop fabrication of all piping spools, flanges, support saddles, expansion joints and tie rod system. Duties also included material takeoffs, field verification of routings and completion of required demolition drawings.
Bethlehem Steel – Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
Senior Designer responsible for assisting in the development of piping and instrumentation diagrams along with building, equipment and platform locations for the prototype design of Blast Furnace slurry reclaim system. Developed final equipment locations, pipe routings and supports, platforming and underground pipe routings including vault design and locations. Also assisted contractors through the entire construction phase for required field modifications and remained on project to assist with all updates as system operation was finalized.
Amoco Oil Company – Whiting, Indiana
Designer responsible for design, drafting and field work of all piping and structural revisions required for updating various truck loading rack facilities and assisting in project coordination between Mechanical and Structural Departments.
Design Draftsman responsible for pipe routings, supports, foundation design, tank and equipment layouts, along with pipe rack and grade pipe alley layouts for various projects throughout the plant including No. 3 Ultraformer design and construction, flare knockout drum system replacement and main plant relief header system replacement and extension.
Lever Brothers – Hammond, Indiana
Designer assigned to various Environmental Protection Agency mandated projects requiring major revisions to steam condensate systems, design of food grade tallow tank farm containment areas, equipment locations and design of double wall containment piping systems complete with instrumentation layout and details.
Clark Oil & Refining – Blue Island, Illinois
Designer responsible for developing drawings for upgrades to entire plant fire protection system assigned to the location and design of new main Fire Pump House, piping and instrumentation diagram development along with equipment and foundation locations. Project scope included all details concerning connections to existing firewater system piping, all above and below ground pipe routings along with support requirements.
Safety Kleen Corporation – Whiting, Indiana
Design Draftsman responsible for design and drafting of tank farm containment areas, pipe routings, supports and equipment locations utilizing bond strand, fiber cast and double wall containment piping for acid handling facilities. Assigned to the development of drawings for the routing and support of various hydraulic piping projects.
United States Steel – Gary, Indiana
Draftsman assigned to drafting and light design work on various projects throughout the plant including blast furnace circle piping replacement, bosh and tuyere cooling water installations and general maintenance piping projects.
