ABOUT ME

I am a 2nd year Bcom Tourism Management student of Eduvos in Durbanville, Cape Town (previously known as Pearson Institute of Higher Education) who has a passion for Tourism since high school. My interest in Tourism developed when I studied Geography as one of my 7 subjects in High school and my passion grew tremendously ever since I enjoyed learning about different countries of the world. I would love to visit one of these countries one day, hopefully the COVID-19 pandemic will be over by then.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Part-Time BP Promoter

In February 2019 I was asked by a close friend to assist her in promoting Disney on Ice tickets for children to watch with their family members at Grand West Casino in Cape Town for the weekend. This was an amazing experience for me as I enjoy working with kids and seeing them happy while they got tickets we sold to them and taking pictures with their family members, this brought me so much joy. The skills I aquired in this job was communication skills, working as a team with the other promoters, mathematics skills as I had to calculate the money that was earned while selling the tickets as well as customer care and service. In June 2019 I struggled financially when it came to transportation to take me to school so I decided to apply for a job close to my residence in Parow, Cape Town and I got the job immediately. I started working as a Perfume Sales woman and I must say, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I was taught to count the stock of perfume every afternoon after school when I arrived at work, clean the workspace, pack the perfume containers in an orderly fashion as well as how to pour the perfume into the containers to sell to the customers. The place had a lot of customers so I had to learn how to do all these skills before I sell to the customers. It was a very demanding job hence I only was able to do it half the year before I started writing end of the year examinations at school. Last year in October I was recruited by Meche Lefleur on Instagram to be a skin product brand affiliate called Nuskin. My main job was to create an advertisement with the skin products that I have to sell to people on my social media platforms as well as in my community in order to be paid commission for selling to about 10 customers per month. I acquired a lot of marketing and advertising skills which I already learnt from studying Bcom Tourism Management so it was mainly making the knowledge I already have more practical.

Online Part-Time Minimalist Jewellery for men and women Entrepreneur This year in August I decided to start my own small business called Minimalist Jewellery for men and women and I must say it has been the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve always had a passion for entrepreneurship so I took it as an opportunity to be my own boss and make my own money with a more flexible schedule. I can balance both my school work and my business perfectly and it has grew quicker than I had anticipated. I even have my own Facebook and Instagram Pages where customers can access the product catalogues and price lists to place their order(@minimalistjewellerymenwomen). The products get delivered to me for packaging then I courier it to my customers with the delivery fee they pay me. My small business has been the best a success ever since I started it.
