Major Duties:
Implementation and coordination of safety, Health and Environmental programmes.
Monitoring, evaluating and recommending improvement of work procedures, processes and standards to ensure safety of employees, machinery, plant and buildings.
Conducting safety audits of Railway establishments to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and national legislation (Factories and Works Act and allied regulations )
Conducting first aid training and facilitating provision of first aid equipment in work areas.
Preparation and delivery of lectures on Safety, Health and Environment.
Liaison with statutory bodies, for example, NSSA, Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe to ensure compliance to statutory provisions.
Facilitating the formation of Safety committees at all work stations and ensures meetings take place as required.
Investigating all accidents to determine cause and recommend remedial action.
