Admissions wards for two (2) weeks

Hem dialysis units for two (2) weeks

Pediatric Ward for a Month: - Nursing care plan, Nasal gastric tube feeding, Collections of blood, Administration of drugs and giving IEC, Bed bathing.

Female ward both medical and surgical for one month: - Canulating, Giving drugs, writing nursing care plans, admitting patients, blood collection.

Male ward both medical and surgical for one month: - Canulation, Administration of drugs and giving IEC, ordering of drugs and admitting patients.

Optimalogy department for one month: - Treating eye conditions such as, trachoma, removing of foreign bodies in the eye, measuring of intracranial pressure.

Orthopaedic ward both male and female wards for two (2) weeks: - Lifting patients using lifting techniques example patients with spinal injuries and amputated limbs.

Gynaecology ward for Three (3) weeks:- Learning different kinds of pregnancy complications and how to manage them, women with high blood pressure in pregnancy (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia),anaemia in pregnancy, malaria in pregnancy to mention a few.

Other duties;

Taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures.

Experience of Chronic Disease management i.e. diabetes and asthma, etc.

Responding calmly to emergency situations.

Reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions.

Able to liaise with social services and other care agencies.

Preparing beds, rooms, sterilising instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensuring that an essential stock of supplies is maintained.

(2)Mumbwa General Hospital – Student Nurse- under the following departments;

Male ward both medical and surgical for one month: - Canulation, Administration of drugs and giving IEC, ordering of drugs and admitting patients.

Outpatient department for one month: - Wound cleaning, dressing and ward saturing, taking temperature, blood pressure and pulse.

Female ward both medical and surgical for one month: - Canulating, Giving drugs, writing nursing care plans, admitting patients, blood collection.

Theatre Ward for three (3) weeks: - Ward saturing, Collecting the after caesarian section delivery, Scrubbing for a procedure and acting as a scrub nurse then sterile hand washing, Taking the patient back to the ward.

(3)Chikuni Mission Hospital – Student Nurse- under the following departments;

Pediatric Ward for 3 weeks: - Nursing care plan, Nuro-gastric tube feeding, Collections of blood, Administration of drugs and giving IEC, Bed bathing.

MCH for three(3) weeks

Male ward both medical and surgical for three (3) weeks: - Canulation, Administration of drugs and giving IEC, ordering of drugs and admitting patients.

Labour ward for three (3) weeks: - Deliveries of babies, Canulation, Administration of drugs and giving IEC, Psychological care and admitting of pregnant women.

Surgical Ward: - Wound cleaning, Administration of drugs and giving IEC, ordering of drugs and admitting patients, writing nursing care plans.

Outpatient department for three (3) weeks: - Wound cleaning, dressing and ward saturing, taking temperature, blood pressure and pulse.
