Travelers is one of the nation’s largest and most admired property Casualty Insurance companies, offering Business insurance, Personal Insurance, claim services, Risk control needs to its customers, the application needs and database share the essential part of Travelers business management. Travelers is a 24/5 support environment and involves on call support. Client is based at Hartford, USA

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE PROJECT

Patching several systems from Development to production.

Upgraded Oracle Apps 11.5.9 to 12.1.1 and oracle database from 10g to 11g

Cloning of R11i/R12 using Rapid clone to the new hardware

Physical standby build using RMAN duplicate with Maximum Availability & Maximum Performance mode.

Build Oracle10g/11g Grid Infrastructure & Database home.

Add/Remove node from existing Oracle10g & 11g cluster

Administer cluster database, database instance, and standby database using Oracle11g.

Generate and analyze AWR,ADDM and ASH report for performance issues and apply recommendation that suits best

Configured OS Watcher for all classic RAC.

Database refresh from Production to Development, Test, QA using RMAN & Data pump

Perform Flashback database on QA database after testing is done by customer.

Sync primary and standby database using RMAN incremental backup in-case of huge gap.

Partition maintenance activities on production database.

Maintain and Administer up to 8 nodes RAC cluster and 5 node RAC database.

ASM disk groups management by configuration, implementation and resizing.

Configure RMAN backup’s level0 & level1 to recovery area and FRA backup jobs to tape.

Involved in Change happening for all environments Prod, QA, and Test.

Create SR and work with Oracle support for any major issues.

Participate and present new topics in Oracle knowledge exchange meeting.

Familiar with the process in HPSM and MIS ticketing tools.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project involvesin providing a broad spectrum of strategic development, application management and support services to enable ELEXON to present the industry with clear options on the evolution of Balancing and Settlement Code systems, and add value to the services it offers in managing the settlement of electricity costs between suppliers, generators and other parties involved in the industry. With the wider energy debate focusing on emerging technologies and issues of security of supply and sustainability, the relationship incorporates a new strategic development service that focuses on the longer-term future.

CLIENT DESCRIPTION

ELEXON delivers the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC); our services are critical to the successful operation of Great Britain’s electricity trading arrangements.

We handle over £500 million of our customers’ funds each year and interact with over 200 companies in the electricity industry. They, in turn, supply over 28 million customers. As part of our role in ensuring that residential and business electricity settlement takes place, we are experts in procuring and managing contracts for the systems and processes we manage. We’ve implemented and developed one of Great Britain’s largest energy industry codes, and continue to handle its day-to-day governance. And we enforce performance standards, targets and other obligations so our customers have confidence that the BSC works efficiently and fairly.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE PROJECT

Managing large-scale application deployments and related infrastructure in the following technology stacks:

Responsible for performing application clones and database clones on environment such as single and multi-node architectures of Oracle Applications

Ran the diagnostic scripts installation of support packs on Oracle Applications 11i

Participated in the application upgrades for test and production instances

Carried out patch analysis and application of one-off patch, mini packs, family packs, and maintenance pack for test, development, and production instances

Gathering the requirements for creating new production instance

Responsible for Installation of Oracle Applications 11i instances

Responsible for 1 Production and 4 Development, Test and UAT instances

Cloning Oracle Apps instances using Rapid Clone utility.

Managing forms server, forms metrics server, Apache web server.
