EMPLOYMENT AND SELF-EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Position: Housekeeper/Mother’s Help/self-employed.

My responsibilities and main priorities were keeping the home immaculate and to a high standard. I provided all housekeeping duties: cleaning the bedrooms and living areas, making the beds, regularly doing laundry and ironing, changing the sheets, towels, cleaning bathrooms and kitchen to the highest standards, organizing wardrobes, hand washing delicate items, polishing brass and silver. It also included washing and ironing children’s clothes and linen. Very important duties were to keep children’s bedrooms and bathrooms clean and tidy. I solely looked after new-born babies and helped the mother with all nursery duties, including bathing, changing nappy, put down for naps. Also baby duties such as washing bottles and sterilising. Occasionally, I cooked healthy food for children and for all families.

*This job was offered to me as temporary (contract) and only for 3 months until the new-born’s mom felt better. However, I worked for 1 year and 5 months, even though this job was far from my home (around 40 km). Children: 1 son 3 years old, another son new- born from 3 months.

Self-employed (full time, later part time)

Position: Housekeeper/Mother’s help. In this family, I performed all housekeeping duties, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and bathroom cleaning duties, washing windows, making beds and steaming curtains. Also, I was responsible for laundry and ironing clothes, handling and taking care of expensive clothes, preparing and packing luggage for traveling and etc.

Nanny duties: I took care of children (two daughters -from 3 years, another from 4 years). My duties included standard nursery duties, morning routine, school runs, organizing children’s activities, nap times, occasionally a family meal preparation.

My main responsibilities and priority: washing and ironing children clothes and linen. Keeping children’s bedrooms and bathrooms clean and tidy, cooking for children breakfast. Also, I’m providing another housekeeping duty: cleaning the bedrooms and living areas, making the beds, regularly doing laundry and ironing, changing the sheets, towels, cleaning bathrooms and kitchen to the highest standards, organizing wardrobes, hand washing delicate items and many other duties.

*These households changed homes from one area to another. It has become too far to drive around 60 km from my home. Children: 3 sons (from 5, 7, 8 years).

Position: Catering assistant/part-time.

Duty: Supporting the smooth running of the kitchen service, maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of all kitchen areas.
