PAINTING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspection, testing and quality assurance of painting/coating systems in the oil & gas and refinery industries.

Inspect protective coating materials before application to ensure adherence to specifications.

Prepare blasting, coating & wrapping procedures meeting contract specifications.

Monitor blasting of the surface before coating including air pressure and nozzle size of the blasting equipment and size, shape, dryness & cleanliness of the abrasive.

Ensure achievement of requirements of specific duties like weather conditions and substrate temperature using whirling hygrometer, dew point calculator, RH% slide calculator and steel temperature gauge.

Determine and apply appropriate inspection techniques such as surface cleanliness/profile checks, WFT & DFT tests, adhesion tests and holiday detection tests as per relevant standards.

Identify coating defects during & after the application of coating systems and implement corrective actions following the repair procedure recommended by the coating system manufacturer.

Estimate the quantity of paints/coating materials required for each job and monitor optimum utilization.

Coordinate with the QA/QC engineer and resolve all technical matters related to coating & wrapping applications.

Liaise with the client’s inspection department for on time completion of scheduled stage inspections.

Witness and record blasters’ and painters’ qualification tests.

Prepare daily QA/QC and stage wise inspection reports. RESPONSIBILITIES:( IN-SERVICE INSPECTION)

Inspection during fabrication of piping and in-service inspection of piping, static equipment (pressure vessels, heat ex-changers) storage tanks, fired heaters and making inspection reports.

Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining the pressure vessel inspection plan together with engineering and corrosion specialist support, meeting all QMS requirements.

Familiarize equipment with prior history of the equipment they are responsible for, reviewing the equipment’s prior inspection results, prior repairs, and current inspection plan and determining the types of inspection required, e.g. internal, external, on-stream, etc.

Determine the corrosion rates, remaining life, and next inspection date for static equipment.

Review and update the inspection and NDE techniques required for static equipment, including the extent and locations of inspection and NDE.

Verify that all new materials used during repairs or alterations are consistent with the specifications.

Assure that the minimum preheats and post weld heat treatments are performed in accordance with the qualified welding procedures.

Turn around inspection of Piping Loops, pressure vessels Heat Exchangers, storage tanks, fired heaters and boilers.

Inspection and testing of PSVs and PRVs.

Review of NDE results such as DP, MT, RT and UT.

Conducting welder performance qualifications.

TANK’S JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Annular joint fit up inspection.

Bottom plate (Long/Short seam) fit up inspection.

Bottom plate to annular plate fit up inspection.

Witness of root DPT of Annular to annular joint.

Visual inspection of long seam, short seam of bottom plate and annular joints.

Vacuum box test witness for Bottom plate & Deck plates.

Vertical & horizontal fit up inspection of shell cores.

Shell to annular plate fit up inspection.

Oil chalk test witness for shell to annular plate (Inside Welding).

Check the verticality of shell cores by checking of plumb readings.

Fit up inspection of floating roof plate (single deck/double deck).

Inner ring, bulk head plates and outer ring fit up of pontoon boxes.

Weld visual and Oil chalk witness for bulk head plates & outer ring of pontoon boxes.

Rim vents, emergency roof drains fit up inspection as per drawing.

Roof legs cutting plane inspection according to approval drawing on roof.

Pontoon box inspection at the time of initial lift.

Primary and secondary wind girders fit up inspection.

Spiral stair case, rolling ladder fit up and weld visual inspection.

Curb angle fit up and weld visual inspection.

Conduct radiography of annular plate & horizontal, vertical & T-Joints joints of tank shell as per API-650.

Inspection of rim seal protection system as per drawing.

Inspection of cooling ring system (cooling raisers, sprinkler etc.)

Tank shell nozzles orientation, fit up, weld visual & PWHT and pneumatic test for RF pads.

Foundation settlement readings observation before and after hydro filling of tank at different levels.

Hydro Testing: Witness shall be done as per the following inspections.

Correctness of testing arrangement (Blind flanges, vents, Drains, Temp. Piping).

Mechanical inspection Clearance.

Hammer Test of shell course welding joints.

Settlement readings.

Roof tilting test as per API-650.

Roof floatation test as per API-650.

Leak test for Roof rain

Rim space reading for upward & downward movement of deck.

Roof test for punctured condition.

Bottom cleaning after hydro testing.

Inspection of painting of tanks.

Key Deliverables (Shutdown)

Study of Drawing & Specification applicable to the specific job-Piping (Above Ground – as per ASME B31.3, B 16.5) & clear the knowledge of drawings & specification of the job being inspected.

Carry out inspection as per Inspection & Test plan (ITP).

Pre-cleaning inspection of Static equipment’s like pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, FURNACE, AIR FIN COOLER etc.

Post-cleaning inspection to check for abnormalities like pitting, mechanical grooving etc.

UTG of piping & equipment’s like (exchangers, vessels, columns, heaters)

Inspection of heat exchanger internals such as shell, tube bundle, tie rods, baffles etc. to & tube

ID, OD to visible extent for determining various damage mechanisms.

Witnessing Hydrostatic test (Shell side, tube side, final integrity) of heat exchangers

(Fixed, Floating head, U-Tube etc.) as per Pressure test chart.

Fit up & Weld visual inspection during fabrication and erection.

Familiar with isometric, P&ID and GA drawings.

Stage wise inspection of MOC piping works of CS, AS (P5, P9, P11) as per applicable Job specification.

Witnessing and conducting the welder qualification test as per WPS requirements.

Review the radio graphic films as per NDT requirements.

Visual inspection of Surface Preparation (sand/slag blasting) as per SA 2 1/2, MPT & DPT as per ASME SEC-V.

Preparing IWL for any repairs if required.
