Description: 8.2 miles of New Orleans Floodwalls (LPV 148.02) were completed, June 1, 2011, as part of the largest floodwall project ever awarded by the Corps of Engineers and the largest contract ever undertaken by Cajun Constructors, Inc., Public Works. The total project called for 43,401 linear feet of pile supported, steel-reinforced flood walls, containing 150,000 yards of concrete, the installation of 6 gates, and providing frontal protection for St. Mary’s Pump Station. At its peak, the effort included over 118 crawler cranes, 2 on-site concrete batch plants, 15 separate yards for splicing over 7,500 H-piles and a workforce of over 1,200. LPV 148.02 achieved over one million man-hours without any loss time accidents.

Responsibilities: Supervised daily function of a Flotel as part of the MC 252 Deepwater Horizon Emergency Response. Was directly responsible for Flotel basic life support activities for an average of 350 personnel living and reporting to daily oil spill cleanup operations from this floating base of operations. In my duties I performed or oversaw delegated daily, weekly, monthly and annual equipment checks for generators, cranes, new construction and repairs of the barges that comprise the Flotel. Under my direction the galley and billeting services were efficiently ran at a 1:10 staff to Task Force ratio, saving thousands of dollars monthly without compromising quality of life. I ensured the completion of all administrative paperwork for supplies, equipment, maintenance and the billing there-of. Additionally I completed daily/weekly/monthly reports of company performance, employee performance, equipment status, supply status; I have proven a steady increase of budget efficiency. Created and implemented Security, Health and Emergency Evacuation plans to standards set by USCG, OSHA and the Oil & Gas Industries. At all times I worked in concordance with the Safety team to meet USCG, BP, OSHA, and Oil and Gas Industry standards for safety. I was intimately involved in safety policy creation and implementation by utilizing my OSHA certifications and experience. I was responsible for filling out all JSEA forms and HOT WORK PERMIT forms on the Flotel. This Flotels daily and Safety operations were used as a benchmark for other similar operations during the response effort. A measurable indicator is the low number of lost time incidents stemming from the Flotel. NO ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES occurred.
