Since 2006, with a high attrition rate of good engineers/leads, it was felt that a good Training is required for the Leads as they were either first time leads at a very young age or were Senior people from other companies with little or no knowledge of Fluor way of working.

Myself was entrusted with the job of developing the Training modules, impart the training to 120 identified Leads from all departments.

I had also to develop a “Tool kit” which contained the typical Fluor formats and systems of doing the job in the Fluor systems and quality procedures. A copy of the same had been handed over to all Leads who have completed the training.

Next target was to develop Training material for those identified for becoming Leads in the next 2 to 3 years period.

It is a workshare with Fluor Calgary for a 110000 bpd project to produce Synthetic Crude Oil from Oilsand, located in Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, Canada. It is a fast track project to take advantage of all steel procurement contract the client had in place till Dec05, due to skyrocketing price of all steel, globally, from July05 onwards.

All steel procured by Dec’05 and the Clients are very happy on the issue. Already on a path to award the next 2 expansion projects to Fluor.

Led a team of Engineers and Designers from all departments (Taskforce size of 100), for carrying out detailed engineering,design and drawings on PDS for the Diesel Hydrotreater Units to be set up at the existing Refinery sites of Scotford in Alberta and Montreal in Quebec.

The work was done as work-share with Fluor -Calgary,against a very stringent

cost,schedule and quality requirement for the plants

.As weather conditions at the site were very hostile, extensive modularisation was adopted to reduce the Field work to a bare minimum.

All necessary methods of effective communication tools e.g videoconferences, teleconferences, net-meetings etc, were being utilised to their fullest extent.

The ultimate aim was to build the plants at lower than AFE estimates, on schedule, meeting the best of Industry standards to produce 15ppm diesel, by September’06.

Fluor ultimately won an incentive of 2million US$ for building the project ahead of schedule and below the targeted cost of 300million US$
