The system here is referenced as US GAAP Valuation Reporting wherein all the Life and health policies that were sold to the EMEA and the LATAM regions and the data associated with it are getting evaluated in regular intervals to identify the balance amount that has to be shelled out when the policy gets matured and when is it going to be and if there are any updates recently that indicates whether the maturity term is getting altered along the way.The Model also checks for the Mortality rate in a region and ties it back to the policy information stored in the databases to identify the critical policies that can possibly go the other way.The conversion happens then based on the exchange conversion rate on any specific day to determine the complete balance that would be required from the company at any given point in time and cross checks that numbers against the money stored in the reserve to report out if there is any gap identified there during that time.There are lots of data feeds coming in on a periodical basis with the information on the new policies and also on the data changes to the existing ones. There are lots of SAS applications built around this system which are in charge of consuming the feed and applying all the business logics that are defined and generates a stream of reports that goes to the downstream teams for adhoc analysis and business validation.SAS is also being used for loading the data that is coming in to the Target databases as well on a scheduled basis.Now the business logics that are defined inside of these processes are getting updated and with respect to it there are lots of dev work and the coding changes are getting configured currently in addition to creating a bunch of new reports for validation purposes.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

There are lots of SAS Business Model applications running in JPMC and they are very critical when it comes to generating the client facing Business intelligence reports, and they play a crucial role in generating the various scoring components that goes into the building of the Credit score for a Customer. With respect to the changes in the Federal rules that have come in over the last two years or so all these scoring and the business intelligence applications are undergoing a major revamp. Some of the internal building blocks within the applications will have to be modified and re configured accordingly to meet up with the new proposed layout that has been set. All of these are being done in phases as there are lots of such impacted SAS applications across JPMC.As a part of the RFT RISK MRA project that is getting operated in the Agile fashion now each and every impacted application is getting analysed completely against the new business requirements that are there and is getting reconfigured. The New layout after its configured and tested gets evaluated by the business users and will get pushed into production. We do get lots of adhoc requirements to do some quantitative and qualitative analysis on the data that is getting loaded into the Teradata tables as well. The data profiling and the predictive modelling on the different characteristics of the data that’s loaded into the tables are analysed through SAS so as to find out on which particular category the sales data is showing a spike as compared to the last year and so on. The data visualizations on the top of the final data dump is performed in Tableau and are posted on the server for all the downstream business users to consume and perform their processing.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

SAS Users at JPMC they were running some SAS Programs which has this hardcoded and unencrypted User iD’s and Passwords mentioned explicitly in the code in the Connection string statements. User Id’s and Passwords being used explicitly this way is not considered to be secured and is actually a violation of the JPMC code of conduct.so cognizant suggested the usage of SAS Authdomain option which can be configured In the SAS Metadata server one corresponding to every different database be it Oracle/SQL/Teradata across different system environments that were there. In the Process of doing these changes the existing 1000 odd SAS Programs would have to be migrated from SAS 9.2 to SAS 9.3 as well. Also we proposed and agreed to implement an exception handling error mechanism check after the end of every data step and Proc step so as to determine whether SAS should continue to execute the rest of the code or not based on the return code of the previous step.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

CSAA was using SAS as the primary analytic tool for monthly reporting, modeling and ad-hoc analysis. It was leveraged heavily by Insurance and Claims Analytics, Actuarial, Product Management, State Management, Marketing and Finance. The current version of SAS that they were using is 9.1.3 & 9.2 which is 2-3 versions behind the envisaged 9.4 version. This project involved doing code changes to all the existing 1704 SAS Programs and performing end to end Testing pertaining to migrating all the programs that were based out of Windows environment to the UNIX environment and from SAS Version 9.1.2/9.2 to 9.4, and also modifying the current Library setup, Database connections which had to be setup newly to get that in sync with the New Production server that has been created.
