Clinical Experiences for Family Nurse Practitioner Program

Primary care and Geriatric Populations caring for patients throughout the adult lifespan. Disease processes and management of:

Hypertension, Thyroid disorders, Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Emphysema, COVID, Pneumonia, Chemical Burns, Sleep Apnea, hyperlipidemia, and Obesity.

Focus on treatment of the disease processes but also lifestyle changes and management that can help the patient learn to manage their disease process. Overall goal has been the reduction of need for emergency room visits and improved overall health. Other experiences have included end of life care and advanced care planning with the elderly patient. Discussing options with patients who have life limiting illnesses and disease processes including their personal goals of care.

Woman’s Health: proficient in Pelvic exams, PAP, STI testing, diagnoses and treatment of female specific disease processes including menopause. Proficient in breast exams and familiarity with screening and diagnostics for breast and cervical health.

Pediatrics: birth to adulthood well visits, screening for growth and development abnormalities. Education related to immunizations, breast feeding.
