Mthokozisi worked at this organization as an arts development intern. He started working for NAC on 16 September 2019 and his contract expired on 15 of September 2020.
With the help, supervision, monitoring, and management of senior arts development officers, he grew his knowledge in arts. He acquired various skills pertaining administrative, writing, and reporting skills. Attending different meetings such as Social Cohesion and Nation Building as well as Capacity Building to count the few, taught him how to take and prepare minutes for the panel members. He has been given task to read, review, and edit the reports and memorandums to be submitted to CEO. Manual application is no longer accepted, meaning the company is shifting with the change in technology.
Additional knowledge he obtained from the NAC is pertaining project itself. He now knows what a project is. He is able to distinguish between the good and not good project. Working with various projects of different themes, he is able to interpret different themes portrayed in different projects. South Africa is a multi-cultural society with lot of cultural expressions and identities. All of these dimensions are communicated and expressed through beautiful artistic works such as theatre pieces, dance, short stories, and paintings etc. Mthokozisi is now enlightened about many cultural backgrounds, cultural norms, and societal believes of different communities and racial groups. For him, arts is the mirror of what is happening in our daily lives.
Moreover, professionalism and punctuality was also part of the skills obtained from NAC. In terms of dressing to represent the organization and doing things professional in the office. Sending formal emails within the organization, to the colleagues and to the beneficiaries outside the organization. Calling the beneficiaries requires one to be professional to create the good image of the organization. Being on time at work and on meetings is one of the characteristics of punctuality. All those practices Mthokozisi learnt them from NAC.
