How does a complex and diverse country like India handle its Freedom of Speech This was a research paper written by me on the topic of freedom of speech in India. It focuses on the current state of freedom of speech in India, how it is different from America, what all challenges the government faces when in handling freedom of speech and also suggests what freedom of speech can look like in a complex and diverse country of 1.4 billion people. Homeless

This is a research paper focusing on the homeless in America. This study looks at writings in The Homeless Grapevine (based in Cleveland Ohio) which consist of blogs written by the homeless themselves because it is important to see how they view themselves and how they want others to view them, it not only advocates their opinions, but tries to educate people about homelessness from the point of view of those who experience it on a daily basis or have experienced it in the past.

city as character

This is a video about the character of a Seattle and focuses on the Black Lives Matter movement and the history of police brutality in Seattle and how the city has dealt with it over the years.

In this video I go through the history of policing in Seattle, look at major instances of police brutality and then the reforms which followed them. You will notice that Seattle unlike most US cities has constantly tried to reform the police, or the citizens have made considerable efforts to demand action but all of them have failed to achieve their ultimate goal which was to reduce police violence towards people of color, especially black men and women. It was clear at the end that defunding the police was the only option to solve this issue because reforming the police has been tried multiple times and hasn’t resulted in anything meaningful. People are still protesting in 2020.

Identity Project

I made this audio recording as a part of an assignment where I had to tell a story about myself that was honest and vulnerable. I did exactly that. I used background music as well as sound clips to improve the audio and make it feel more immersive.

AUDIO WORK

Interview with a police officer

To right an article about the rise of domestic violence during COVID-19, I was tasked to interview a police officer on how they handle such an interesting issue. I felt it was important to interview a police officer since they are the first people to respond to a domestic violence case and learning more about their role in such cases will be informative. A fun podcast episode

This is more of a fun project I did with my classmates Elise C Williamson and Samuel Besrat where we had to create a fun and interesting podcast episode about anything. We decided to make a podcast episode about algorithms and how they control us.
