As a registered dental hygienist, I deliver optimal clinical care based on collective data and scientific evidence. I provide patients with an individual comprehensive care plan focused on minimizing risks and optimizing oral health, while thoroughly maintaining a superior, yet sympathetic, bedside manner. I have six years experience working with special needs patients with developmental delays, that entail providing specialized care, expressing compassion, and understanding of their mental capacities.
I am skilled in complete assessments including:
•Thorough evaluation of patient medical/dental history.
•Oral cancer screening and oral pathology.
•Performing diagnostic panoramics and digital imaging, and interpretation.
•Full mouth periodontal probing, gingival assessments/diagnosis, and hard tissue charting.
•Evaluation of self-care capabilities and dexterity levels for geriatric and special needs patients.
I evaluate all clinical findings, integrate information, and develop individualized dental hygiene care plans in collaboration with restorative treatment recommendations by the dentist. Treatment plan organization and presentation allows me to create good clinician/patient communication. In doing so:
•Contribute to a sustained patient schedule by setting weekly goals, and gaining patients trust.
•Generate hygiene production, spending a large majority of one-on-one chair time with patients. This allows me to present overall treament plans, while freeing up Doctor for resorative work.
•Provide patients or caregivers with thorough breakdown and understanding of recommeded treatment.
•Prioritize treatment in accordance with patients needs and wants.
I implement treatment gently and proficiently comfortable to the patient to include but not limited to:
• Removing calculus deposits and extrinsic stains from teeth and beneath margin of gums using both hand instruments and ultrasonic.
• Performing prophylaxis in absence of periodontal disease or periodontal maintenance in patients with no/minimal active sites.
• Administer local anesthetic as needed in those patients undergoing scaling and root planing procedures.
•Prioritze patients’comfort levels by minimizing anxiety through remaining optimal at all times during the procedures.
I provide preventive adjuncts and educational methods for controlling oral disease which is individualized to the patient such as:
• Proper tooth-brushing and flossing techniques, plaque control, and dental product knowledge.
• Educate on the presence of xerostomia with the use of certain medications, and cavity prevention methods.
•Proper cleaning and storing instructions of removable appliances.
•Maintaining periodontal disease at home in collaboration with recommeded recall visits.
•Modifying techniques for patients with low dexterity, or those needing assistance from a caregiver.
• Counsel on proper nutrition and self-care programs such as smoke cessation and alcohol/substance abuse.
I diligently handle instruments and work areas in accordance with sterilization and disinfection protocols with other team members to prevent blood-borne diseases by:
• Complying with proper universal precautions and infection control procedures set by OSHA and CDC recommendations.
•Communicating and working with other team members to assure quality control logs are updated accordingly and equipment is tested in producing quality sterlization.
•Contributing to an atmosphere which encourages team work and co-worker healthy interrelations.
