Provide client-centred treatment for assigned patients using various modalities, including active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, massage, heat, light, sound, water, and electrical treatments such as ultrasound.
Administer physical therapy treatments to help patients cope with limitations in movement, daily functioning, and activity. Work under the direction of and as assistant to licensed physiotherapists.
Assist physiotherapists with patient care including walking, transfers, exercise, safe mobility, and other duties as requested. Serve as a liaison between patients and physiotherapy staff.
Measure patient's range-of-joint motion, body parts, and vital signs for evaluations or to determine effects of treatments.
Fit and train patients for use of orthopaedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices.
Implement components of treatment plans as directed by the physiotherapist and assist in conducting group activities / exercise programs.
Provide information to appropriate team members regarding patient's performance, monitor and report changes in health status. Offer education and support to address patient’s physical, emotional, and self-care needs as assigned.
Clean and organize work area, disinfect equipment after treatment, and maintain treatment supplies.
Perform clerical duties such as taking inventory and completing forms.
Equipment knowledge includes Automated External Defibrillator, wheelchair supplies, and seating.
