My primary responsibilities are serving the public in a fair and respectful demeanor; protecting life and property; preventing, detecting and investigating criminal acts; enforcing traffic, parking and bicycle regulations throughout a large complex of congressional buildings, parks and thoroughfares in Washington D.C. Additionally, it is my duty to protect Members of Congress, Officers of Congress, and their families expanded by the statute of the entire United States, its territories and possessions, as well as the District of Columbia. I currently work on the Patrol Mobile Response Division (PMRD). This unit is responsible for all motorcycle and vehiclular patrol in the primary and extended jurisdiction areas. The unit responds to traffic accidents, investigates crashes, first aid/medical emergencies, conducts traffic stops, specialized motorcade route security for VIP’s, Dignitaries, Heads of State, etc. I previously worked on the First Responders Unit (FRU) at the U.S. Capitol building. This unit is responsible for all outside patrols around the Capitol building complex by foot, mountain bike, motorcycle and vehicles. The unit offers immediate response to outdoor dispatched calls, citizen requests, first aid/medical emergency assistance, rifle and shotgun fixed posts, outside building foundation fixed post law enforcement presence, specialized motorcade security for arrivals and departures of VIP’s, Dignitaries, Heads of State, etc. My unit is specifically trained in anti-terrorism and counter terrorism duties and responsibilities, to include active shooter and specialty take down procedures.

My first assignment was on the House Chambers section at the Capitol in which I was exclusively responsible for the protection of the Members of Congress, their families and guests as well as the House side of the Capitol building. I regularly was in plain-clothes capacity in the chamber during session and for special events such as the State of the Union Addresses, Joint Sessions of Congress and the 2009 Presidential Inauguration. My accomplishments would include tying for the top shooter rank in my class of 48, qualifying with the Glock 40 caliber and I currently hold an expert class title for firearms. I received a perfect score in my qualification for the Rock River M4 rifle 40-hour course. I have worked with Congressional staff members in community outreach programs to provide them and their offices, with the knowledge and resources they need during emergency situations.
