April 2012 - current: Independent practitioner at Life Poortview Wellness Clinic

Duties and responsibilities:

Individual psychotherapy with clients (adults and adolescents) presenting with, major depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidal behaviour, psychosis due to substance and schizophrenia, post traumatic stress (sexual assault, hijacking and robberies), eating disorders, mania associated with bipolar mood disorder and personality disorders. Life Poortview is an acute facility where clients can stay for up to 21 days. Some are referred to longer term treatment facilities and others continue with therapy at my private practice.

Group therapy: I am responsible for the mindfulness programme that is presented 5 times per week. The topics include shadow work (Jungian approach), dialectical behaviour therapy, meditation techniques, emotional regulation, identifying pain body response to trauma, psychosocial development and childhood trauma and the effects on resilience and stress management

During this time I was part of a team that developed a specialized programme for clients with diagnosis of emotional disregulation disorder (formerly borderline personality disorder)

Multi disciplinary team meetings liasing with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapist and social workers on weekly basis.

The work include individual therapy with wide variety of presenting problems, i.e major depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, eating disorders, suicidal behaviour and self harm.
