FORTIS HOSPITAL (BANGALORE and NOIDA) (September 2016 - till date) Position: Counselling Psychologist

Responsibilities and contributions:

1. Counselling:

A. In-patient Counselling (Supportive Psychotherapy): Provided counselling support to inpatients, and caregivers in Gastroenterology, ICU, BMT, Emergency, Gynaecology, Liver Transplant, Orthopedics, Dialysis, Pulmonology & Critical Care. These engagements were related to pre- and post-operative, family counselling, grief counselling, palliative care. B. Out-patient Counselling: Provided counselling support to outpatients in the age group of 10 years to 80 years. The patient population comprised of school and college students, parents, business professionals, corporate executives, etc. For both in-patient and out-patient counselling, a variety of techniques and methods were used. These included: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Relaxation Therapy.

C. Support Group Counselling: Conducted Support Group activities for Post-natal mothers, Nephrology Patients and their caregivers. These activities used modalities of Art and Music Therapy to understand and address the psycho-social concerns of the patients. D. Telephonic Counselling - 24 x 7 All India Stress Helpline: Been a part of the team that provided telephonic counselling to distressed callers across India under the – 24x7 Stress Helpline. In this intervention we supported patient population of diverse age group from urban and rural India. The concerns addressed under this initiative were related to stress, anxiety, depression, marital discord, etc.

2. Psychology Internship Programs:

A. College Internship:

Fortis runs a successful psychology internship program, designed to provide an all-round exposure to aspiring students of psychology. This internship combines a strong academic focus along with an observership model, in rotation with various mental health experts. Along with my team, I’ve trained college interns pursuing undergraduate or post graduate Psychology studies.

B. School Internship:

Fortis also runs a school internship program since 2017. Providing a structured program for students, the internship offers the opportunity to know and understand aspects of mental health for students of grade eleventh and twelfth. Along with my team, I conducted sessions on Psychological Interviewing, Orientation to Clinical Disorders, Exposure to Applied Fields of Psychology, and Orientation to Health Psychology and An Experiential Understanding of Self. Trained 500-plus students in 2018-2019. 3. Workshops:

As a part of the Fortis School Mental Health Program, I’ve independently conducted workshops in schools across Bangalore, Delhi-NCR and other cities across the northern and central India addressing specific needs of students, teachers and parents across the government and private schools. Program Promotion and Marketing

I actively participate in the promotion of the Fortis Mental Health Program though online social medial engagement across various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Telegram and Quora. 5. Events and administrative coordination

Managed and assisted in coordinating various events conducted at Fortis. Some of the events which I have been a part of are:

Conducted detailed case histories and mental status examination for patients in the out-patient department. Coordinated with the Oral Substitution Therapy Centre. Assisted in counselling sessions for patients with opioid addiction.
