EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

B.E., Rohini College of Engineering & Technology, Kanyakumari (62.1 %) Department of Mechanical Engineering

May 2018

HSC, Scott Christian Higher Secondary School, Nagercoil (55.66 %) May 2014 SSLC, Scott Christian Higher Secondary School, Nagercoil (71.6 %) May 2012 ADDITIONAL SKILLS DEVELOPED

Course completed on “Diploma in Mechanical CAD”

Course completed on “Diploma in Computer Application (DCA)”

Course completed on “Auto CAD 2015”

Course completed on “Mobile and Electrical Application Servicing” ACADEMIC PROJECT UNDERTAKEN

Main Project: “Investigations of Chromium Carbide – 25 % Nickel Chromium (Cr3C2- 25NiCr (80Ni 20Cr)) Coatings sprayed on 304 L Stainless Steel by High Velocity oxygen Fuel (HVOF) to attain Minimum Porosity and Maximum Hardness” Tools Used: HVOF system, Cr3C2-25NiCr powder, 304 L Stainless Steel, (RSM), Response Surface Methodology (RSM), Electron Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS), Surface Roughness Tester, Digital Micrometer, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Optical microscope, Rockwell Hardness Tester.

Description:

HVOF system selected due to the high velocity and high impact of the sprayed powder, the coating HVOF system selected due to the high velocity and high impact of the sprayed powder, the coating produced is less porous and has higher bond strength than that produced by other methods

In order to determine the optimum levels of the process variables studied and their relationships, RSM concept was employed.

HVOF spraying system available at the Annamalai University, Chidambaram, India. It’s used to deposit Cr3Cr2-25NiCr coatings on 304 L Stainless Steel substrate under each and every conditions.

It was found that by increasing the flow rate of oxygen, there is a proper combustion of LPG fuel and complete melting of the in-flight particles which leads to good splat formation on the substrate. This results in lower porosity and good bonding strength between the coating and substrate surface.

The hardness of the coating generally increased with increasing the stand-off distance.

Mini Project: “Design and Fabrication of Electromagnetic Braking System” Tools Used: Electromagnetic solenoid, Microcontroller, Battery, switch, Metallic Disk, Frames, Wheels, Micro-controller, DC Motor

Description:

A Brake is a mechanical device which retards motion. It use Friction between two surfaces to convert kinetic energy of the moving object into heat.

The Magnetic Brake is based on the creation of Magnetic field within a Metallic disc rotating between electromagnet, which set up a force opposing the rotation of the disc. Electromagnetic brakes can develop the opposing power which represents nearly twice the maximum power output of the engine.

Electromagnetic brakes work in relatively cool condition and satisfy all the energy requirements of braking at high speeds, completely without use of friction.

Electromagnetic braking is superior to Conventional Frictional braking as there is no friction and heat. So the Conventional disc and drum brakes can be replaced with electromagnetic brakes.
