To Whom It May Serve

Letter of Reference for Ms. Jessica Gavin

It is my pleasure to write in recommendation of Ms. Jessica Gavin. Ms. Gavin has been an excellent student in our department of anthropology here at the University of the Witwatersrand. During her studies, Ms. Gavin displayed her qualities as a brilliant scholar, achieving marks that place her within the top 2 per cent of students in the BA class in the Faculty of Humanities for 2019. Let me be more specific about Ms. Gavin’s excellent scholarly achievement. It is both the result of her excellent skills as a student and her more general qualities as a person. As a scholar, Ms. Gavin is a thoughtful and articulate speaker who communicates her ideas in a clear and measured fashion. During class discussions, she regularly initiated and led discussions that generated vigorous debates about the questions being studied. In her written work, Ms. Gavin demonstrated her skills as a careful and critical thinker about some of the major questions related to inequality, power, and development that define our current global condition. Throughout, she displayed a careful attention to Africa’s situation in these conditions.

In terms of her more general qualities as a person, Ms. Gavin possesses great organizational skills and she was very assiduous throughout her studies. She also possesses a tremendous amount of emotional intelligence. She showed a great amount of warmth, generosity, and empathy toward her peers while making her own views and positions known with clarity, even when these seemed markedly different from those held by her colleagues. Working in a highly diverse setting, Ms. Gavin also displayed these social skills as an excellent teammate during group work. She served as a very good leader who steered her colleagues effectively toward the timely completion of assigned tasks. For all these qualities Ms. Gavin has earned both the respect and admiration of her peers and Faculty in our department. We think that she has a promising professional future in any setting. I am therefore very happy to strongly recommend her for postgraduate studies and the award of any financial support toward her postgraduate studies. With very kind regards,

To whom it may concern,

Letter of Reference for Jessica Gavin

Jessica Gavin started working at Forensic Tools as an intern on the 15th of March 2021. Because of her passion for forensic crime scene investigations, it was her focus to gain experience in the field of crime scene processing and evidence handling. Forensic Tools, as a company, focusses on three types of service deliveries to clients namely training, investigations and equipment. Therefore, Jessica had to immediately become involved in training curriculum development, investigation of evidence recovered from crime scenes, and also preparation of marketing and sales documentation for our equipment and consumables. Jessica showed unprecedented work ethic and drive as well as the ability to not only involve herself in the different aspects of the company but also identifying shortcomings and giving vital inputs on different aspects.

Her ability to immediately understand and proceed with projects shows incredible insight and ability which normally comes with years of experience and skill in a specific field. It was expected from Jessica to master new software programs with steep learning curves in order to be able to perform various tasks within the company. She, for example, had to learn how to prepare comprehensive tutorial video material on programs that she had never used before. Jessica can meet extreme deadlines and had to prepare documents for presentations numerous times on short notice.

Jessica Gavin has become an unmissable part of our team within a few months and I highly recommend her for employment in any organization.

Please do not hesitate to contact me personally for more information Yours Sincerely,
