PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER

Developed Pre-FEED package to fully update the integrated Polymer Complex Process Design Package

(PDP) for ExxonMobil located in Huizhou, China.

Responsibilities: Reviewed/Revised equipment data sheets. Updated PFDs & P&IDs. Reviewed process safety documentation and calculations for relief valves, rupture discs, and breather vents.

Developed Pre-FEED package to expand the existing Petro Rabigh Refinery facility in Saudi Arabia with the addition of specific BOTB process units in order to upgrade the vacuum residue stream to optimize production of premium transportation fuels while minimizing production oil. The crude distillation unit capacity is 400,000 BPSD and the Vacuum Residue Hydrocracking unit design capacity is 72,000 BPSD.

Responsibilities: Reviewed/Revised equipment data sheets. Updated PFDs & P&IDs. Reviewed process safety documentation and calculations for relief valves, rupture discs, and breather vents. JACOBS ENGINEERING, Houston, TX (May 2006 – April 2019) PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER

SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER

Supported complete engineering effort for construction of a new unit for the recovery of fuel gas (H2 and LPG) from the current and future fuel gas streams produced at the Marathon Galveston Bay refinery plant.

Responsibilities: Prepared and reviewed equipment data sheets for drums, tanks, pumps, and other specialized equipment. Calculated settle out pressure for compressors to set design condition for the related piping and equipment. Completed DPDT for the overall project.

Prepared Design Package for OSBL and Utility equipment and planning support for a 2000 KTA Ethane Cracking Unit and two 1000 KTA PE units for the CPChem Gulf Coast facility in Texas.

Responsibilities: Prepared equipment data sheets and performed hydraulic calculations for vessels, and pumps. Prepared PFDs and overall blocked flow diagrams. 2

Identification and Evaluated options as Process Lead for the development and selection of an optimized facility layout. Supported infrastructure and site preparation work needed for the construction and operation of the facilities identified (Master Site Plan). Master site plan includes USGC2 (one 2000 KTA Ethane Cracking Unit and two 1000 KTA PE units) with planning options for future expansion at the CPChem Gulf Coast facility in Texas

Responsibilities: Scaled up plot plan from USGC1 and others including equipment, tankage areas, buildings, labs, pipelines, truck loading/unloading, railcar loading/unloading, ponds, SIT yards, and OSBL units. Assisted the site-planning group to allocate process units to optimize process operations.

Developed a FEED package for and provided detail engineering for a new Methionine plant with a capacity of 100 KTA of Alimet®, which is a nutritional supplement produced by Novus International at their Green Lake, Texas location that serves as a methionine source when added to animal feed. Alimet® is an 88% solution of MHBA (4-Methylthio-2-Hydroxy Butanoic Acid) in water.

Responsibilities: Sized equipment and performed hydraulic calculations for vessels, pumps, flare headers, cooling water network, refrigeration system. Prepared equipment & instrument data sheets. Prepared process safety management documentation with calculations for relief valves and rupture discs. Developed Cause and Effect diagram for Alimet® area.

Developed FEL 2 engineering package as Area Lead for a grass-roots chemical plant owned Monsanto in Luling, Louisiana. Continued development into detailed engineering to construction support for the plant that produces a proprietary herbicide product including both batch and continuous processes. The plant production of 50 Million pounds per year of 3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid (“Dicamba”).

Responsibilities: Completed studies in FEL 2 with challenging technical issues. Developed HMB, PFDs, and P&IDs. Generated reactor cycle time chart to assist equipment sizing. Prepared equipment data sheets. Coordinated with other disciplines and client to close out action items.

Developed engineering packages as Area Lead for the expansion of the Shell Carmon Creek facility in Alberta, Canada. The project expanded thermal production capacity and supported building a significant presence in the heavy oil line of business in country. The project included drilling 7000 wells in the Peace River Lease for Shell Canada Limited.

Responsibilities: Generated PFDs & P&IDs. Prepared utility distribution and consumption summaries for nitrogen and instrument/utility air. Reviewed vendor compressor packages.

Generated and provided preliminary engineering studies as required for corporate guidance pertaining to the conversion of one of the existing PX (para-xylene) process trains to a newer current technology including slurry handling at the formerly owned BP Chemical facility in Texas City, Texas.

Responsibilities: Performed all process work including engineering calculations and developed basic data for a front-end study to improve product impurity with improved operability and reliability.

Developed a FEED package and detail engineering for the enabling works and interconnects facilities for expansion of ethylene and polyethylene plants owned by Exxon in Baytown, Mexico.

Responsibilities: Revised and Updated P&IDs as required. Performed hydraulic calculations for critical process and utility lines and developed process data for mechanical equipment including pumps, vessels and heat exchangers.

Provided engineering for the expansion of DuPont’s Titanium Dioxide Line 2 facility in Altamira, Mexico facility, which resulted in an increase in capacity of approximately 200,000 metric tons per year. The project included all areas of the TiO2 manufacturing process.

Responsibilities: Sized equipment and performed hydraulics (pumps, blowers, spray nozzles, vessels, etc.), developed equipment data sheets, provided instrument data, revised HMB, and reviewed and updated process safety management documentation as required to match the higher capacity conditions.

Evaluated existing pressure relief devices at the formerly owned BP Refinery in Texas City, Texas and identified deficiencies in equipment overpressure protection. Supported effort to re-design relief systems as required to be in compliance with current OSHA standards.

Responsibilities: Reviewed and revised process safety management documentation with supporting calculations for relief valves and rupture discs.

Developed a FEED package for a grass-roots liquid epoxy resin unit in the RTIP complex (Ras Tanura integrated Project) located in Saudi Arabia, which included a Cumene unit, a Phenol/Acetone unit, a Bisphenol A unit, and the two final production units LER and CER.

Responsibilities: Prepared PFDs and P&IDs, performed compressor calculations, sized equipment and prepared process instrument and equipment data sheets. Compiled and Prepared plant utility summaries.

Evaluated flare capacities for redesign and modifications required for expansion of processing capacity of crude oil at the Motiva refinery located at Port Arthur, Texas.

Responsibilities: Modification of the flare models for the HTU4, HCF, and HCU2 units based on revised relief loads; reviewed and revised relief valve outlet sizes to ensure proper velocity in the flare headers.

Developed a detailed engineering package for construction of the Cabana plant, which is a grass roots facility owned by Dow Chemical in Santa Victoria, Brazil for the production of ethylene from ethanol.

Responsibilities: PFD and P&ID preparation, hydraulic calculations for cooling water, Dowtherm, and safety shower systems, Developed Pressure relief system design bases and sizing calculations, and equipment datasheet preparation.

Provided Engineering support for a Phase III and IV design of a batch process for production making CPChem’s polyphenylene sulfide resin, Ryton™ at the Borger, Texas plant.

Responsibilities: Developed relief valve design basis and sizing calculations, hydraulic calculations, sizing equipment; P&ID preparation, and development of process and control narrative.
