Preached a minimum of 45 times per year, teaching weekly to a variety of ages cradle to grave using various mediums, media, and methodologies as well as special services, weddings and Memorial services.

Managed ten staff and resourced 31 ordained leaders utilizing Mission Insite, Appreciative Inquiry, community exegesis, writing a future story and Logic Model planning process for a total mission reorganization.

Transformation of worship experience opening the church to the neighborhood, emphasizing multi-cultural and intergenerational worship via a guest journey experience that says, “We have been expecting you.”

Launched Bridge Ministry to the Latino population in the neighborhood and partnered with Solidarity a neighborhood based Latino non-profit for ministry across the street.

Created space on our campus to partner with Camino Immigration Services to offer free legal advice in navigating the immigration laws in southern California.

Initiated interfaith conversations with local Mosque in Orange County, CA.

Responsible for discipleship development of members and regular attenders toward an activated and community looking posture that engages a diverse neighborhood in community development initiatives featuring: church owned homeless shelter for 44, weekly soup kitchen, education, ESL, multi-culturalism, emerging generations, families and spiritual formation.

Lead Pastor March 2007 - May 2014

Lake Burien Presbyterian Church, Burien, WA 200 members

Preached a minimum of 45 times per year, teaching weekly to a variety of ages cradle to grave using various mediums, media, and methodologies as well as special services, weddings and Memorial services.

Vision originator and chief implementation agent on behalf of the church to partner with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission for an after-school program for 1-6 grade students: healthy snacks, homework helps, bring students in ESL to grade in all areas of school work. The school we worked with had 66 different languages spoken.

Awarded “most Inspirational Church Partnership” by Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission for this effort, out of a total of 187 church partnerships.

Participated on steering committee to create an extreme church makeover with an urban sister church that completely renovated the church in one week with 500 different volunteers. The initiative was called Build up the House.

Collaborated with my Associate Pastor to work with Seattle Pacific University in creation of cohort to develop leaders in people of color.

Lead catalyst and architect in the redevelopment and transformation effort of a classic eight staff and 32 leaders in aging Anglo mainline to reflect the diverse needs of the neighborhood while moving from a mission as granting group to mission as community development model that mobilizes, empowers and unleashes person of color for sustainable change in the neighborhood. Key instruments used in this endeavor were Appreciative Inquiry and Logic Model planning process to vision origination and future story.

Church Relations Specialist January 2006 - February 2007

World Vision USA, Federal Way, WA

Speaking in public every week in venues from six individuals to one thousand people.

Leader of the Seattle and Tacoma effort to initiate new relationships with pastors, leaders and churches, nurture existing partnerships to go deeper and to lead teams to Africa to meet sponsor child and tour what their monies had put in place, whether it be small business loans, AIDS caregiver kits, water reservoirs, schools, medical clinics or food and fresh water systems.

Managed the marketing team of three in this endeavor on behalf of World Vision to go deep in the Seattle – Tacoma landscape, connecting partners in the USA with the work of World Vision in sub-Sahara Africa focusing on AIDS relief and poverty related issues.

Brought the World Vision mini AIDS exhibit to the Washington State Fair and to University Presbyterian church- both were a first for World Vision.

Chief Architect in the Global Neighbors Project that won runner up at the Willow Creek Courageous Leadership Award in 2008, featuring Tacoma pastor Dean Curry from Life Center Church and Tacoma Mayor Bill Baarsma. The award was a $40,000.00 gift to Life Center Church of Tacoma for their ongoing work in ministry.

Represented World Vision on multiple television and radio stations in the Seattle and Tacoma metro area on world AIDS day.

Attained all fund-raising goals, 1.5 million dollars in child sponsorships, church partnerships, and tsunami relief contributions by local churches.

Vice President of Business Development November 2004 - January 2006

Developed and enhanced the creation of business model, website, marketing, brand development, content creator, speaker, and new client presentations-both individual and group. The company is still operating today under the name Faith Based Expeditions.

Curated specifically for Silver Lake Winery an Alaskan Cruise tour featuring the wines of Silver Lake Winery and key participants.

Concierge of vision trip for Agros to Honduras securing key large gift donors at the conclusion of the trip.

Teacher and logistics coordinator of Study Tours to the Holy land, Greece, Turkey on two separate occasions for groups of 40 participants serving as the chief logistical concierge for all aspects of the trip.

Senior Associate Pastor of Adult Ministry and Mission March 1999 - September 2004

John Knox Presbyterian Church, Seattle, WA 450 members

Preached a minimum of 15 times per year, teaching weekly to a variety of ages cradle to grave using various mediums, media, and methodologies as well as special services, weddings and Memorial services.

Created a start-up learning community for young adults, called Tapestry, that did not exist prior to arrival. Grew it to 85 people.

Coordinated from the ground up a Christian Pre-School. Retrofitted the campus with fund drive for sprinkler system, parking lot water runoff storm system, hired staff, trained staff as outreach ministry to the community.

Catalyst in 5-million-dollar campus campaign for building renovations, Pre-school start-up costs and missional grants for Community Development project in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Discipleship development of young adults with a view to mobilization model of mission centering on community development in the neighborhood: soup kitchen, food center, and Christmas with Dignity, ESL classes.

Youth and Mission Pastor 1989 - 1999

Hope Presbyterian Church, Richfield, MN 3,500 members

Preached 9 times per years at all three services, weekly teaching to senior high school students (average attendance 75), and five days during high school camp week for 55 students.

Leader of paid youth staff of three and 50 volunteers to 300 junior high and high school students in 360-degree discipleship youth ministry and Camp Pastor at church owned Camp.

Trained fifty volunteers weekly in youth ministry principles and best practices.

Partnered with local apartment complex, owners, property managers, a Lutheran Church, a Non-denominational church, the city of Richfield council, fire department and police department to open up a five-day per week after school program after a fatal shooting of a thirteen-year-old student. This effort is still running today.

Raised money for a pole barn to house vans, buses, boats, and water equipment for the church camp. Participated in managing the project to build the pole barn and secured funding for the waterfront boats and purchased 2 wave runners.

Led the vision, speaker, motivator and decision maker for the entire growth of the program.

31 students went into full time youth ministry service over the course of my time there.

Coordinated and led 9 vision mission trips to Bahamas (3 trips), Chicago, New Mexico, Mexico, and Kenya (2 trips) and Guinea, West Africa.

Created partnership between Hope church and World Servants to leverage the assets of both making both organizations stronger together than separate. This partnership is still in existence today.
