Comparison of DRY, WET and MQL condition in turning operation

• The study was conducted on DX 300 CNC with EN-38 carbide insert by turning EN-24 alloy steel with a diameter of 80 mm. There were three conditions- dry, wet and Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL).

• MQL is an alternate method to avoid excess lubrication using mixture of compressed air and specific lubricating oil for the material. It is a near-dry machining method that can be applied to reduce coolant usage in turning operation. The MQL condition consists of stainless steel nozzle with an open diameter of 1 mm to adjust flow of coolant and air. DEGREE INSTITUTION DURATION GRADES
