Managed service center for proper paperwork, complaints, redraws, proper “postings” and wait time data for the service centers. I also worked as ICD-9 coder remotely for centers that did not have a phlebotomist that was ICD-9 certified. Spent my mornings helping out in busy centers to affectively impact wait time. It was common to process 80 patients a shift and that included registering the patient, inputting testing/ procedures that needed done, specimen collection and processing of the specimen.

Explain collection procedures to patients specifically that for stool collections and 24 hour urine collections. It's important to anticipate and answer questions they may have to provide a smooth experience so the collection process is successful the first time.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify patients identity with name and date of birth. Verifying wristband also for inpatients.

Organize and keep the blood drawing trays for morning collection clean and stocked. Also stock and keep outpatient drawing rooms clean.

Conduct tests such as blood alcohol, blood culture, urine drug screening for pre-employment, glucose tolerance testing, blood smears, bleeding times, therapeutic phlebotomy for hemochromatosis patients, send out lab tests and peak and trough drug levels tests.

Enter patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information into computer. Assign appropriate ICD-9 code according to written diagnosis. Communicate with Doctors offices for clarity when needed.
