Application of ORB-SLAM in indoor mobile robot
(Graduation thesis)
In this project, ORB-SLAM algorithm (a 3D visual simultaneous localization and mapping algorithm using camera as the main sensor) is applied to build maps
(2D and 3D) and perform localization task in indoor environments.
• Combining ORB-SLAM with other available ROS packages to build a 2D occupancy grid map allowing the robot to perform the navigation task, e.g., moving to a desired goal in 2D working space.
• Integrating the IMU data into the motion model of tracking algorithm to improve the original algorithm.
• Executing the program on the embedded system.
• Designing a Qt GUI to launch the program and control the mobile robot from remote desktop.
• Designing a simple mobile robot model with PID controller.

Full-time Automation Engineer
• Developing from scratch the program for an automated control system for shrimp farms based on Node-RED (using Javascript) and creating Node-RED dashboard as a graphic user interface for testing and simulation.
• Implementing IoT solutions based on the Azure IoT Hub service and collaborating with the mobile app development team.
• Working as a part of the team involved in the execution of the program on a real embedded system including an industrial embedded computer, controllers and actuators.

• Applying the LQR (linear quadratic regulator) and Swing-up algorithm to control a real rotary inverted pendulum system.

• Final result: the response of pendulum’s position is pretty good ( 0.60) while the rotary arm still fluctuates slightly ( 40).
