SUMMARY

As an experienced educator with a Master’s Degree and teaching certifications in grades 6 through 12 in wide-ranging areas of expertise, I am seeking a challenging and rewarding job in North Alabama. Specifically, I have 25 years of experience teaching subjects such as Language Arts 9, Language Arts 12, Remedial English –during which100% of my students, both native and non-native speakers, passed the graduation exam-- Reading 6, Health, Physical Education and Career Exploration. The year I taught Career Exploration was the first year it was offered in the state, and my curriculum, especially the portfolio method, was used to prepare other teachers to teach the program state-wide.

Among other training and certification, most recently (2016-2017), I have trained extensively and implemented the concepts from the Laying the Foundation Training. Perhaps most importantly, I I voluntarily completed three levels of certification in the National Math and Science Training, (NMSI in MS ENG including Text-based Responses, Generating Textual Response and Understanding, and Elevatiing Instructional Rigor) as well as certification in Content Literacy (through Athens State University) and completed 6 hours of credit in Educational Foundations and Educational Technology. I have also eager participated in additional certification to keep children safe in their educational environment, including a Mandated Reporters certification through the Alabama Department of Human Resources, and sought and was awarded certification in creating a safe and respectful educational environment through the National Federation of High Schools. Part of my intentional practice of keeping the educational environment safe is ensuring that my American red Cross First Aid/CPR/AID Instructor certification remains active. I regularly conduct First Aid certification for students and fellow teachers.

I am still open and receptive to ideas that are beneficial to student learning and understanding.

For the past twelve years, I have worked out of the local Huntsville/Madison area, commuting up to an hour and a half so my family would not be burdened and could remain in the Huntsville/Madison area. However, my family and I have decided that working and living in the same area is beneficial to students and demonstrates a solid commitment to the community.

I have a strong record as a basketball coach and a classroom teacher at the secondary level. I am confident that my best years of running a program are still in front of me, either as a head coach or as an assistant who brings great insight to any program. I have also had great success working with student athletes, both male and female, in track and in tennis. My exposure to maximizing all aspects of a program will create a culture that will bring excellence and a sense of pride to a school and a community. I have expertise in all areas that are involved in running a first rate program. My love for people, the game, and the journey, brings that special feeling that creates bonds that last beyond each season.

that was coached for over 30 years and would enjoy the opportunity to add to a school with that experience. In my 30 years as a Division 1 college and Alabama high school coach at the 1A, 2A, 4A, and 6A levels, I have developed strong programs, celebrated numerous all-tournament, all-area, all-metro, and all-state honors, and had the honor of watching 26 players sign college basketball scholarships.
