Position Summary:
o Implements, promotes and maintains active infection control program through surveillance and investigative activities, consultation, education, policy development and research. o Works collaboratively with staff, departments and administration to reduce the risk of healthcare
Principal Accountabilities
o Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area within departments which may include, but or not limited to, the following tasks:
- Collects, reviews, analyzes and interprets surveillance data and recommends appropriate actions to clinicians and administrators targeted to reduce or eliminate infectious risks in patients and staff.
- Conducts investigations of outbreaks
- Conducts activities related to exposure of patients and employees to communicable diseases.
- Develops, reviews, evaluates and implements infection control policies to improve quality of care. Develops, reviews and maintains infection control manuals for HMC areas.
- Plans, develops and conducts in service education programs for HMC employees Consults with department and administrative staff on infection control issues.
- Participate in Construction and Renovation activities (Planning phase, construction phase and commissioning phase)
- Initiates and participates in quality improvement projects Develops routine quality improvement reports.
- Assigned within pandemic to manage COVID 19 pandemic in 900 bedded isolation hospital
- Performs other departmental duties as assigned.

Position Summary:
o Assists with ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive clinical infection, prevention and control service, including technical supervision, interpretation of laboratory results and providing patients’ consultation as well as administrative responsibilities.
o Assist the leading and endorsement of active relevant research projects. Create and maintain links with the national IC Program, WHO, APIC, CDC etc.
o Creates and maintains active technical and academic links with regional and international relevant organizations.
Principal Accountabilities
o Manages, identifies and analyzes routine surveillance data throughout the Hospital; presents surveillance data to appropriate clinical groups; identifies and analyzes health issues and their impact on patient throughout the AHC.
o Serves as a resource to patients and other staff in addressing ethical care issues. o Evaluates resources for implementing infection control measures and take action as appropriate. o Presentation of educational programs and has a membership of departmental committees where infection control input is required.
o Serves as a consultant on infection control issues to all AHC services. o Collaborates with health care teams, recommends and develops new or revised practices and procedures based on currently accepted evidence.
o Assists in problem resolution on infection prevention and control issues as directed by management. o Initiates and investigates special issues/focus studies to prevent and control infections. o Conducts investigations of outbreaks
o Initiate, compile and complete periodic review of departmental Infection Prevention and Control policies as required by organization or external guidelines. o Reports finding to appropriate agencies
o Manages the development and implementation of Infection Control department mission, vision, goals, goals, policies and priorities for each function.
o Develop a quarterly and annual reports that include activity, man power review, statistics ….etc o Delegate work effectively to subordinates.
o Conducts performance reviews for department staff. o Provision of orientation and in-service education of all personnel. o Monitor and approve requests for vacation, meeting and absences consistent with Policy and Procedures
o Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. recruiting, interviewing, recommending, training, supervising, evaluating, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved. o Performs other related duties
