Duties:
Take preventive measure to ensure safety of vehicles, forklifts and drivers too and make sure vehicles are always ready and available to meet orders by scheduling and monitoring trends in the industry.
Work closely with the maintenance team to find ways to reduce downtime due to repairs of lack of routine maintenance.
To establish and maintain statistical reports/master data, files and relevant records related to vehicles, forklifts, maintenance, procurement, repairs, depreciation and mileage.
Minimizing disruption and resolving any unscheduled delays, having to make decisions in difficult situations and ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with the Nigeria transport laws and regulations, particularly relating to health and safety.
In charge of the day to day operations of the transport/fleet department, efficiently managing a team of drivers, forklift operators, vehicles/forklifts and responsible for all the dispatching, routing and tracking of the delivery vehicles.
Being the first point of contact for all drivers, ensure that drivers comply with driver’s hours and tachograph rules and with speed limits.
To provide detailed technical training related to fleet management duties to the subordinate staff members, answer their queries and give information related to various policies and procedures.
Make sure that all the vehicles/forklifts are properly registered; carry out inspection on regular basis.
Monitor fuel/diesel by administering fuel/diesel cards to all vehicles to their respective drivers when necessary in order to regulate cost/expenses. Also take part in different workshops/programs to keep up with trend in the industry.
