PERSONAL QUALITIES AND SKILLS

Well organized

-Staying organized at work is one of my best trademarks. This has always assist me to remain focus on my daily tasks and also to be able to manage time more efficiently. Of essence is the fact that by being organized, l always curve time out for creative thinking and other unplanned events.

Self-starter

-Jack Canfield once said: “don’t worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don’t even try”. Taking initiatives on work to be done, has been what classified me as a self-starter.

Teamwork

-Sharing information, helping to resolve problems and working towards a common goals and objectives of the organization is the very definition of teamwork. Without team players, organizational goals and objectives cannot be achieved. Only together can we build a better future, therefore my teamwork skills.

Attention to detail

-My work experience required me to always strive for perfection in trading foreign exchange products because mistakes such as mis-pricing at the wrong side of the quote, will have a costly repercussion for the company. Also quoting a price based on a wrong currency, will also have a serious financial impact on the performance of the institution. Therefore it is of paramount importance to ensure that undivided attention is maintained at all levels during any negotiation processes.

Willingness to learn

-No one knows it all. Willingness to learn and develop your skills is of extreme significance in this current ever changing environment we are living in.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

-The insurance work environment is packed with a lot of stressful situation that entails handling complaints from aggressive clients and meeting tight deadlines on time and within budget. Dealing with stressful situations in a calm and professional manner should always be the call of the day.

Persuasive

-Convincing others to agree with your point of view or follow a course of action in order to grow your network or customer base, is of paramount importance in the current setup of the current business environment the industry is in. With the small size of customer base in the overall market, it is important to boost your persuasion skills to expand and grow your business.

-Maintaining integrity at workplace is crucial for employees at all levels. Having integrity helps foster an open and positive work environment and an ethical approach to decision-making. Having a high degree of integrity means that you are trustworthy and reliable and also honest and responsible. WORK EXPERIENCE

1995 – 2000 Bank of Namibia

Dealer

-As the dealer, my primary function was to ensure the safety of all local and foreign reserve of the country by investing only in investment graded countries and instruments

-Ensure that regulatory and investment guidelines are followed in order to safeguard the countries reserves

-Ensuring that all foreign exchange requirements of the Government are met through funding the necessary foreign currency accounts of the Bank

-Serve in the Reserve Management Committee as an advisor to the Governor of the Bank on the developments in the local and foreign markets that may impact on the safety and return of the country’s foreign reserves

-Do regular rebalancing of the foreign reserve portfolio by ensuring the currency mix remains as per the agreed investment guidelines

-Assist the government with its borrowing requirements by engaging in regular government security tender process

-Assist with the management of the Government’s borrowing plan by ensuring that the new issue dates of the securities and the maturing securities are in sync with each other

2000 – 2003 Nedbank

Foreign Exchange Dealer

-It was my principal duty to proactively identify and respond to customer initiated foreign exchange opportunities and to provide competitive pricing and specified value-adding treasury services to a defined and targeted portfolio of corporate bank customers at the foreign exchange desk, within the allowed risk framework and limits.

- Of the most importance was to ensure the continuous contribution to customer value through innovative services and solutions to safeguard customer loyalty across the board.

-Provide support to the management team to improve performance of the desk. Adhered to all trading and credit limits for foreign related transactions.

-Furthermore, my skill extent to the ambit of handling all the foreign in and outward payments, import and export letters of credit, managing all nostro accounts, and documentary collections.

2003 – 2006 Bank of Namibia

Money Market Dealer

-As the dealer, my prime function was to ensure the safety of all local and foreign reserve of the country.

-This was done by ensuring that all investments that concerns the country’s foreign reserves (USD, EUR, GBP and ZAR) are invested with investment graded financial institutions with low investment risk all over the world.

-Furthermore, I was also involved in the process of assisting the Government in planning its public debt management process which entails assistance with the borrowing plan of the Government (Government borrow from the local market by issuing Treasury bills and bonds), which further entails the drawing up of the borrowing calendar and the debt report.

-Government securities tender and auction announcement formed part of my responsibility.

2006 – 2020 Nedbank

Foreign Exchange Dealer

-Maintain broad network of external relationships to gain leads for business opportunities

-Ensure solid delivery of expected customer benefits through regular contact with the existing clients to ensure customer loyalty

-Ensure protection and growth of market share in the foreign exchange markets by regularly do research in the local market in order to gain excess to new customer base and opportunities and also to ensure brand awareness to potential new customers

-Identify and acquire new foreign exchange income streams through regular research for potential new products in the market

-Provide regular update on exchange rates both to branches and clients

-Funding nostro accounts to ensure stable cash flow as required through the accounts for settlement of client’s foreign exchange requirements (import payments)

-Meet the daily budgetary requirements to ensure that the bank is fully funded and invested all times to maximize on returns

-Maintain regular contact with the existing clients in order to strengthen customer loyalty and to maintain customer satisfaction

-Assist management with the analysis of customer profitability by identifying most valuable clients in order for the management to spend proportionally more effort and time on the most valuable clients. This in itself will help the bank to maximize customer lifetime value and the banks return.

-Managing all nostro accounts, incoming and outgoing payments and managing purchase and sales of foreign currency notes.
