SUMMARY

I have worked in textile industry for the last about 20 years after graduate school as a textile engineer (Researcher, Developer, and Manager of production).

I believe that I have deep knowledge and understanding of textile material and textile production processes by various textile products development experiences with suppliers and customers, and hands-on production management experience.

I had handled various textile material for development of textile products and had worked with various mills of each textile production processes to make the products that was match with target requirements.

There were always many problems and issues during development and manufacturing of textile products, because textile material has specific properties such as very thin and flexible, the production processes are complex and continuous. My team and I always tried to solve the problems and improve the process and properties. It was always based on engineering perspective.

Especially, I have the successful hands-on experiences in GST (Automotive airbag manufacturer) that was improved production efficiency and quality significantly by continuous corrective actions based on lean manufacturing perspective with each department managers.

I believe my various work experiences of development and hands-on experience would be fit to the Textile Development Engineer job.

PRODUCTION & QUALITY REPRESENTATIVE 01/2016 to Current

Global Safety Textiles LLC - South Hill, VA

Global Safety Textiles LLC is the US plant of GST Group that is one of major supplier of car airbag fabrics and airbag cushion products in the world.

I worked at GST US plant for the last 5 and half years as a production and quality representative.

Managed production and quality based on lean manufacturing.

Planed production schedule based on the demand from customers considered internal production KPIs.

Created and managed the KPIs to improve productivity (efficiency and quality).

Created and manage production and quality reports to manage the KPIs.

Created and modified work instructions and standards for each process based on root causes analysis based on production floor observation.

Improved scrap rate from 18% to 1.5% by root cause analysis and continuous corrective actions

Improved weaving efficiency from 60% to 80%.

Cost analysis for new project.

- Created fabric construction sheet and design sheet.

Hyosung Corporation - Seoul, South Korea

Hyosung corporation is one of major textile company in South Korea, they are manufacturing yarns (polyester, Nylon, spandex, p-aramid and carbon fiber yarns, etc.) and fabrics (Woven and Knit).

Managed fabric development team and partner mills to develop new fabrics.

Initiated the development projects with sales team.

Developed the fabrics and technically supported to sales team.

Developed flame-retardant cotton fabrics that meet NFPA 2112 and NFPA 70E standards for oil & gas industry’s workwear with partner mills.

Developed flame-retardant fabric that was made of inherent FR yarns such as p-aramid, m-aramid and modacrylic, etc. with Korean yarn manufacturer, weaving mill and dyeing & finishing mill.

Developed the barrier fabrics for surgical gown and drape that meet AAMI PB70 Level 2~4 by manufacturing process development. The fabrics are supplying for Standard Textiles in US.

Developed high tenacity workwear fabrics that has cotton touch to replace cotton fabric market used Hyosung High tenacity performance yarn applied yarn treatment technology. These fabrics had launched for European workwear market successfully in 2016.

Developed various multi-functional fabrics for sportswear with yarn technology and finishing technology, which fabrics has functions anti-bacterial, fast absorption & fast drying, anti-odor, and durable water repellent, etc.

R&D TEAM MANAGER 01/2003 to 01/2009

Welcron Co. Ltd. - Seoul, South Korea

Managed R&D team employees, Initiated the R&D topics and manage the development schedule.

Planned & developed seasonal products with design and sales teams.

Supported the sales team technically.

Developed anti-allergy beddings & fabrics that are protected house dust mite made of microfiber yarn and cotton technology. These fabrics developed in end of 2003 and launched in 2004 as a SESA brand, there are around 200 stores in South Korea.

Developed various functional woven terry towels made of microfiber yarns and various eco-friendly functional spun yarns.

Cleaning cloth with microfiber for cleanroom in semiconductor industry.

Developed light weight bullet proof material and vest with Dupont and Korea Military Academy.
