PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

District Department of Transportation April 2014 – Present Safety Technician

In this position, responsibilities include controlling the flow of traffic for the protection of children and other pedestrians to safely cross streets at assigned intersections; and to report any traffic infractions to the appropriate officials. Control traffic from the curb or by entering the street intersection. Rotates to various intersections within assigned Wards located in the District of Columbia. Familiar with basic provisions of Public Safety for School Crossings while having a thorough knowledge of Crossing Guard Manuals. Demonstrates exemplary customer service skills, and skillful in oral and written communication when required. Identifies adverse signs and reacts swiftly in emergency situations while improving the quality of life for children and residents in the District of Columbia. Participates in a wide variety of special events within the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area ensuring the safety of traffic and pedestrians (i.e. Major League Baseball Games, National Basketball Association Games, Concerts, Marathons, and Parades). ● Monitors and inspects electronic kiosks located within Metropolitan Police Department Precincts sited in Wards 2 thru 7 for DDOT Permits Office. Responsible for improving the use of these facilities by confirming that equipment is functioning properly and supplied adequately.

● Observes the Red Top Meters to ensure the infrastructure placement and demarcation of parking spaces are accessible and adequate for individuals with disabilities in accordance with the United States Access Board/Americans with Disability Act.

● Collects data from street parking signs, non-parking signs, and/or all public signs within the District of Columbia and inputs information into the ArcGIS geographical information system.
