PRODUCTION DESIGNER / GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Moda Latina, LLC • Norcross, GA • Oct 2016 - Jul 2019

• Keeping and following design standards of the company in every project. Whether print or online, one has to follow the rules for uniform look of products for consistency. These consistencies in branding had to be adapted to each of the divisions within the company. Each division has a different feel and appeal but bottomline is that in a way they have to say we are part of this company.

• Responsible for designing promotional pieces such as catalogs, brochures, flyers, news mails, traffic stoppers for the different divisions within the company. After meeting with the director of the division, a game plan would be made which included a timeline for designing, looking for the right photo from our library of references, asking the copy editor to help with the text to convey the messages needed, reviewing the art, make necessary corrections, and get the art ready (the PDFs) for the printer, meeting the deadline And as part of this process, to proofread the art to make sure spelling, punctuation, and everything pertaining to the text/copy of the piece, is error free.

• Designing labels and packages for the garments manufactured and sold by the company.

• Provide clients with promotional materials (photos) for stores (posters, signs, etc.) as well as for their web, as well as photos of product references for their stores to make their customers aware that they carry our brand.

• Did translations (Spanish and English) for promotional materials for the different divisions, as well as the employee handbook for the company.

• Revised information, photos, etc. used in catalogs and brochures for quality before going to printer - pre press. Whether I had worked on the project myself or not, I would revised the project before it went to the printer.

• Working closely with others (from inventory) to double check that the references were available and that the colors, sizes, prices and other information was correct and as up to date as possible at the time the piece would go to the printer. Once the piece is ready, would make the PDF and revised it to make sure everything is how the printer needs it and then send PDF to the printer.

• Did inventory of supplies used in the design department. This included making sure we had the necessary ink replacements and paper and size paper for the copier/printer. PRODUCTION DESIGNER/EDITORIAL GRAPHIC DESIGNER

MundoHispánico/AJC/Cox • Atlanta, GA • Aug 2005 - Jul 2016

• Responsible for keeping the design standards in the overall look and styles of the weekly publication. Weekly meetings (with editors, reporters, and photographer) were held for planning purposes of what material would be in the next edition of the newspaper.

• Worked in other specialized publications which included a monthly parenting magazine and quarterly magazines for health and legal matters. Meetings were held with the team (editors, reporters, photographer) of each publication. The subject for the main story would be suggested and developed, as well as other stories for that particular publication.

• Created maps, graphics and other necessary visuals. Sometimes the stories would required an extra hand which would allow the reader to see where it happened or what route to avoid, or work been done in a stretch of a highway. These additional visual elements helped enhance the readers' experience and understanding of a story.

• Collaborated with reporters, editors and photographer in choosing photographs to be used in storytelling. This also helped in a break from so much text while still providing the reader with information presented in a different way.

• Light copy editing, proofreading, suggestions for titles/headlines, photo captions and so forth like catching cer- tain details that others would miss. Proofreading came in handy for it was another set of eyes looking at the copy to make sure there are consistencies in names, etc. and no errors in the copy of the article.

• Met deadlines on a weekly basis for the newspaper.Working with reporters and editors about the status of a story so that one could work the page layout/design. Also making sure that the photos and everything else in those pages were ready before making the PDFs, which would be checked and then sent to the printer.

• Contributed to the digital strategy, uploading the digital versions of the weekly newspaper and the monthly and quarterly magazines. Every week or month, depending on which publication, I would make sure that it was uploaded to our web so that those that rather read online could have access to them. EDUCATION
