INTRODUCTION

At the age of three, I had an emergency surgery and was an inpatient for several weeks. The attending physician that saved my life included me in his daily morning rounds caring for other ill children. I continued my yearly check-ups with this physician and over the years he became my friend, my mentor, and the reason that I became a health care provider.

OB/GYN Rotation

Skills Acquired:

•OB/GYN patient assessments including breast and vaginal exams, pap smears, cervical dilatation, fetal presentation, Doppler fetal heart tones, measuring fundal height throughout the stages of pregnancy, assisting with cesarean section and vaginal deliveries, as well as post-op assessments.

•Became proficient in treatment planning and education of pregnant patients for each trimester.

•Became proficient at pediatric SOAP notes.
