• Travelport

2010-present - Sr Technical Lead Software Developer

Major Strategic Projects 2015-2021

1.Worldspan Merger - Adding new core to processing due to merger with Worldspan, in addition to Apollo 1V and Galileo1G added new core 1W. This project was around 5000 hours and included a variety of various teams working jointly together. My role was a key developer in billing and invoicing systems. I created new COBOL programs that take Worldspan data, validate, enrich, and convert it to the Travelport layout for further downstream processing of pricing and invoicing. Schedules were updated and most DB2 tables were affected. I created new reports as well as dashboards for the new core. Current and existing jobs/programs were expanded and modified to accommodate the new data. Cobol/DB2/SQL Server/FOCUS.

2.Pricing projects – Adding new pricing structures and introducing new products to be billed for our vendors. These projects were one of the most important initiatives in our billing and invoicing systems. Projects were typically initiated in September/October and were implemented for a late Q4 or early Q1 deployment. Most product and pricing modules were modified and enhanced with new functionality. These projects were rigorously tested. Expanded test cases were created while regression, parallel, and user acceptance tests were run to ensure that invoices were produced and accurately included the new product pricing structure for particular vendors/countries and other system indicators. I played a major role with the management, development, and deployment of these key initiatives. IMB mainframe enterprise and SQL Server – SQL Server, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, FOCUS

3.SOX audit project - Managed and was part of the team that created a parallel branch to our system that ensured that there are not gaps or disconnects in our production process. I coordinated status meetings and all code walk-thru for our new processes. I wrote a portfolio of new reports for all tables/files were updated by users and/or batch jobs. These Audit reports provided user engagement and notification to ensure that updates were performed correctly and accurately per their instructions. FOCUS, JCL, new CA7 schedules.

4.PowerBuilder upgrade from version 9 to version 17 – Responsible for this upgrade. I worked closely with a contractor for 3 months to make sure that all necessary modules are updated according to new version and all licenses are current and deployed to the servers. While managing the upgrade I also coded and developed along with a contractor. The upgrade also included upgrading DB2/Connect to a more current version. I worked closely with DBA team to ensure that the connection to the DB2 tables was setup properly. I created new executables for users in the new version and performed extensive testing for the upgraded system prior to deployment to our QA area.

PowerBuilder API, scripting language, SQL Server, GitHuB.

5.VAT charges for customer invoices (Several Projects) –I managed all these projects from requirements to implementation which included adding a new VAT tax to specific countries based on legal requirements. I worked on design, estimations, delegating tasks, coding, and implementation. Facilitated status meetings and peer reviews, code walk-thru, and coordinated user acceptance testing. COBOL, CICS, JCL, FOCUS, RPG.

South Africa VAT - 2018

Malaysia VAT- 2018

Russia VAT - 2019

Mexico VAT – 2020 – this was to fully automate VAT tax process, so if any other countries would be charging VAT tax then users just need to go and update table via UI screen to set it up.

6.Migration project – Replacement of non-air processing from mainframe to BRM (oracle). My role was to coordinate development efforts across the Business and Technical teams of legacy billing, BRM, EDW, and FA. I focused on design, estimate delegation of tasks, testing cases, and implementation/deployment. Non-air billing and invoicing system was revamped, and process was moved to BRM, mainframe jobs were converted to BRM process in oracle, however some pre-bill pieces were modified and kept in MVS. Pricing and invoicing are processed now in BRM. Receiving data back from into legacy system for match-back. COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL Server, SSIS packages.

7.Data Warehouse Integration - Handoff of segment/ticket data to EDW data warehouse. I was involved in the transfer non billable data, daily and monthly files to the EDW team for reporting of the SQL Server, (Cognos, BI). Extraction of non-billable data from DB2 database – including more extraction criteria selecting active, non-bill, tickets segments, for certain cores. Data extracted into CSV format and stored in AWS S3 bucket then formatted and validated and loaded to SQL server EDW.

Tactical Day to day activities

1.Monitoring the billing process to ensure it completes and meets the SLA – daily /weekly/monthly/Quarterly. Daily process starts in the evening and continues through early morning. Final product for daily process is revenue reports.

2.Produce estimates and technical designs for new projects and major enhancements to billing systems, work with business – on understanding requirements and identifying functional changes and new development.

3.Bi/Weekly meetings with RUN (prod support) and Build (new dev) teams, going over all the requests for enhancements, incidents, and projects. Using JIRA and Service now. Making sure that teams are meeting deadlines and there are no roadblocks. Ensure testing and approvals are lined up while identifying issues and risks.

4.Leading project meetings typically once a week with all players involved.

5.Typically work on projects myself as well, coding, testing and implementation. I need to assist the team as resources are engaged and deadlines are tight.

6.Setting up code walk thru and peer reviews prior to project implementations.

7.Work closely with the Change Management Teams – Pre-CAB and CAB meetings, once projects are ready to be implemented. Making sure that all approvals are received for QA, architecture and user acceptance teams, peer review codes, documentation.

8.Report back to my managers on main accomplishments and statuses for key projects.

9.Enhancements to UI PowerBuilder system, new screens for new tables and add new fields as part of enhancement, my last screen was for TAX VAT table, so users can add new VAT tax for vendor country and that would flow to add VAT tax for invoices in those countries.

10.Approve timesheet and time off for my team, making sure that hours added in a proper bucket and allocated to the correct projects while keeping in budget.
