Performed independent one-on-one patient care involving initial consults, pre-operative visits, post-operative visits, and scheduled procedures. Also served as a first assist in surgery and sutured at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital and Kenmore Mercy Hospital. I also performed trigger point injections and interpreted imaging such as MRI, CT, X-ray, and nerve studies. I completed EMR documentation which included history, physical exam, and developing treatment plans.

Rounded on patients in the morning and presented cases and plans to ICU attendings, residents, and advanced practitioners during grand rounds. Wrote progress notes, admission notes, and discharge orders as well as assisted in comfort care and codes. During this rotation I witnessed many rare and interesting conditions such as Refeeding Syndrome, Wernicke’s encephalopathy, and Moyamoya disease. I was also able to perform several procedures such as arterial line placement, complete neuro exams, diagnosis of brain death, and CVC placement.
