USCG Base Galveston 2019 - June 2021
I trained several coworkers how to use the National Electric Code. I encouraged new electrician employees to keep learning the electrical trade. I kept the morale in the shop going in a positive direction by being involved in the employee’s needs and the needs of the service. I helped troubleshoot electrical faults and explained to my coworkers what the problem was and how I resolved it. I held safety meetings and trained coworkers how to operate heavy machinery, specifically “man-lifts”. I maintained flow of information from technicians in the field to upper management, which in turn helped me minimize loss in productivity. USCG Maritime Safety & Security Team Houston - MSST Houston (91104) 2018 - 2019 I was the facility electrician and deployable marine electrician in support of counterterrorism and human smuggling missions. I promptly completed routine maintenance on DC powered electrical equipment on (6) 29ft CG small boats and their trailers. I Kept traveling support trailer stocked ready for deployments. I was the electrical safety instructor and Emergency Generator maintainer. I addressed logistics issues in a timely manner and kept track of inventory through computer software. U.S. Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay 2014 - 2018
I coordinated & scheduled projects at different military facilities in Humboldt county in California. I was one of two Lead Journeyman Electricians. I ran a traveling crew of 3 - 4 apprentices under the supervision of a Chief Warrant Officer (Master Electrician). Traveled over 360 miles to job sites to complete work orders on different type of Coast Guard assets: (1) medical clinic, (1) airport, (1) helo- pad, (6) small-boats and (2) ships. I troubleshot restaurant equipment such as ovens, steamers, griddles. I tested fire suppression systems in CG cafeterias and kitchens. U.S. Coast Guard (CG) Patrol Boat 2011 - 2014
I gave service to all the attached and portable electrical equipment on board the CG ship during search & rescue, migrant interdiction operations, counter-drug missions and fishery enforcement. I groomed electrical switchboard powered by (2) V12 Caterpillar diesel generators. I maintained the ship propulsion plant controls and monitoring equipment. I collaborated with machine techs with overhauling two turbo charged V16 2550 horsepower ALCO diesel locomotive engines. I maintained the ship’s sound powered phones (SPP), the electronic navigation equipment, and the ship’s steering system.
USCG Base Miami 2008 - 2010
My career in the military started. I learned organizational structure. I became aware of how teamwork made the missions I was involved in successful. I also started my electrical apprenticeship and worked closely with electricians. I performed electrical device inventory and tool maintenance. I was in charge of mail distribution for the CG Base Miami and Coast Guard Headquarters in Florida. I handled many secret and confidential documents that had to be hand delivered to specific officers from different law enforcement agencies.
