Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing you today to seek employment with your company as a CAD Drafter.

I started my career as a Drafter at Ross Gear, a Division of TRW where, along with my drafting skills, I also acquired strong knowledge and skills designing steering gears, hydrostatic steering, and hydraulic motors for semi-trucks, farming, construction, and off-road use. While at Ross Gear I became familiar with the use of the CADAM System and possess strong skills in its use.

When that job moved out of state, I next hired on at Fairfield Manufacturing, where I continued enhancing my knowledge and skills; this time designing planetary gearboxes and brake assembly for construction, agriculture, marine drilling platforms, and off-road use. While at Fairfield I was introduced to other CAD platforms, including Applicon, Solidworks, Pro-E, and some use of Vellum and AutoCAD LT.

After being laid off at Fairfield, I was hired by Butler International, where I continued enhancing my knowledge and skills; this time creating Installation drawings for Caterpillar’s large 3600 Engines for power generation & marine propulsion. While at Butler I was introduced to AutoCAD 2004.

In 2009, Butler lost its contract with Caterpillar. However, I was hired by Belcan Corporation, (who had won the contract) to continue working on Caterpillar's Engines. There, I also gained a further understanding of Pro Engineering (Pro-E), Wildfire 4 which aided in acquiring graphic details of part groups for use in the AutoCAD Installation drawing that we sent out to our customers.

Unfortunately, in August of 2013, due to a economic downturn in our market, I was laid off from Belcan.

In mid-December of 2013, I was hired on by URS Corporation as a Designer II. My primary task was working on and checking conversions of existing Cadra drawing into AutoCAD drawings for Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. I also help in producing Pro-E (now known as Creo) Models and drawing of other Crane NSWC projects. Unfortunately, in mid-2014, URS lost the contract that I was working on, and I had to hunt for new employment.

I was soon hired on by Aerotek to work as a Pro-E (Creo) contract worker at Parker-Hannifin Corporation/Electronic Control Division in Mishawaka, Indiana. Unfortunately, due to another downturn in business, I was laid off at the end of November 2014.

After several months of job hunting, I was finally hired in May 2015 by Koontz-Wagner Custom Controls Holdings LLC in South Bend, Indiana as a Mechanical Drafter for the update of parts and assemblies of their main product line, Electronic Controls Rooms, and components using AutoCAD. As with other businesses, the economy for Koontz-Wagner took a downturn in late 2015 and I was laid-off.

In early 2016 I was finial hired by Business Control Systems (BCS) to work as a contract Microstation Drafter at Duke Energy, working on electrical schematic and topographic maps of sites that they operated. Then, unfortunately in early 2021, I was let go from BCS & Duke Energy, forced once more to brave the world of unemployment, to hunt for a new job,

My salary requirements would be in the $15.00 to $25.00 an hour range. I am willing to move almost anywhere and fully understand that relocation compensation may not possible. I am a hard worker and a team player, have high standards of integrity and have demonstrated a strong attendance record. I am quite sure that you will find my talents beneficial to your company so please feel free to telephone or e-mail me at your conveyance. I may also try contacting you to set up an interview soon. Enclosed you will find my resume listing my job history and references.

Sincerely,

Mark Alan Gick
