BIOGRAPHY

Born in a small coal mining town in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, I attended Dannhauser Secondary School where I was Sports Girl, Head Girl and Valedictorian in my Matric year. With the financial backing of Anglo American, I completed my B.Sc. Honours degree in Geology and Applied Geology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. After which I joined Anglo American as a young bursar in 1996, gaining valuable experience at a number of the Anglo American gold mines as I worked my way up from being a MIT (Manager in Training) to the position of Senior Geologist. I believe that the harsh underground mining conditions under which I worked have moulded me into the highly successful and motivated person I am today. I left Anglo American in 2005, and joined Richards Bay Minerals. In my five years at the company I was promoted from Geologist, to Head of Mine Design, to Head of Mine Development, to Acting Manager: Mine Development to Plant Superintendent to fully appreciate the of the mining cycle from exploration to final product. In 2009 I left Richards Bay Minerals to join AfriSam (SA) (Pty) Ltd as the Raw Materials Manager. In this role I reported to the Chief Operating Officer, with my primary mission being to ensure that the company continually had access to long term raw materials supplies. As the Raw Materials Manager, I ensured the provision of technical and legal expertise to enable the company to extract and source raw materials optimally within the legal framework of the Mine, Health and Safety Act (MHSA). In 2016 I was promoted to the Raw Materials and Sustainability Manager. In this role, the AfriSam Group Sustainability (inclusive of Safety, Health, Occupational Hygiene, and Environmental management) was added to my functions.

With more than 17 years of experience in the geology and mineral resources profession, my career has exposed me to numerous projects, which have strengthened me in project management, mine project due diligence, green and brown field exploration and mine design and scheduling. I am skilled in all management and administration roles and functions (aided by both experience and the acquiring of an MBA in 2010) and am an organiser who prioritises, allocates and coordinates resources (both human and material), for proficiency and efficiency. Having worked at various sites in Africa, I have managed to harness the ability to work with individuals from various social, economic, and educational backgrounds.

I aspire to continually make value add contributions, by ensuring that I conduct business efficiently, by implementing the use of latest technological developments and being cognisant of mining, economic, social and environmental compliances.
