" Novel design of miniaturized high gain 5G base station antenna " The project aims to develop a miniaturized high gain antenna for 5G base station. The antenna operates in the 5G sub ~ 6GHz band with a bandwidth of 400MHz as per the allocated European 5G frequency range of 3.4 - 3.8GHz. This work upon completion, achieved an operating bandwidth covering the Entire band of the frequency range. The antenna is then developed into an array and the array is miniaturized which resulted in 50% of the physical size reduction from the conventional antennas used. The antenna is designed for base station application in small cells. The antenna was designed and simulated in CST microwave studio then fabricated and measured in anechoic chamber at University of Surrey. This work is concentrated towards a miniaturized antenna and is more efficient to be implemented for 5G MIMO applications. The project was proposed and completed at Institute for communication systems (5GIC), University of Surrey – UK.

" Text based traffic sign detection & recognition " The project implements a vehicular automation system for detecting the traffic signs and symbols on road using image processing technology coded with Matlab 7.0 & Embedded C for improving safety in transportation. The prototype consists of an AT89S52 microprocessor connected to PC (for input via Matlab) using UART and to the required output devices (Voice board, relay). The input is given through Matlab which processes the input and delivers the processed information to the microcontroller and then the output is transmitted to the voice board and car prototype via relay. The project was proposed and completed at the ECE department (SMVEC) – Pondicherry University. GENERIC SKILLS
