Construction Coordinator: The firm specialized in carpentry and drywall subcontracting from residential to commercial. Jobs ranged from $1,000 to $300,000. Annual sales of approximately 2 million dollars. Duties consisted of doing all the estimating, negotiating contracts, purchasing materials and supervising all jobs in progress.

1969 to 1971 BURTON M. SAKS CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION, Westbury, Long Island

Project Manager: The firm specialized in building custom residential homes ranging from $300,000 to $500,000 and high rise office buildings in the range of $2,000,000. As Project Manager, worked directly with the Vice President and President of the firm on all phases of the jobs in progress. Duties consisted of making take-offs, estimating, pricing, purchasing, negotiating sub-contracts, checking and processing shop drawings, change orders, payment requisitions, supervising and coordinating construction, preparing and up-dating progress schedules and correspondence between owner-architect-subcontractor. Also in charge of the firm’s subsidiary mill shop which fabricated all the custom woodwork required for the jobs in progress.

Personally made contact with owners and architects in negotiating contracts. Did the estimating, supervising jobs, subcontract different trades and buying of materials. Familiar with all aspects of general construction and building codes. Maintained a good relation with all trades and employees. All work was of a high quality level.

Personally was instrumental in setting up a plant in the manufacture of steel office partitions. Have a complete background of sheet metal fabrication from the designing stage to finishing and shipping. Negotiated the leasing of a plant, buying machinery and materials. Did the estimating, negotiated contracts, managed the plant and coordinated the installation of the product in the field. Maintained a work force of 30 employees, doing an annual sales of $1 million.

General Manager: In charge of manufacturing sheet metal office partitions in two plants in the Long Island City area. Some of the duties were estimating, drafting, scheduling, custom relations, schedule installation and shipping. Personally designed partitions for special contracts. Managed a work force of 100 employees.

Prior experience after technical school was as a Draftsman/Designer doing estimating, drafting and designing sheet metal office equipment, as well as light fixtures for special contracts.
