JOBS,DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist anaesthesiologists in patient’s airway using techniques such as endotracheal intubation and extubation.

Assist anaesthesiologists in performing regional anaesthetic techniques such as local,spinal,epidural,caudal,nerve blocks and intravenous blocks.

Respond to emergency situations with emergency team by providing airway management or using basic cardiac life support techniques.

Calibrate and test anaesthesia equipment, assist in inserting arterial or central intravenous catheters.

Monitor patient’s vital signs and oversee patient recovery from anaesthesia.

In Recovery Room, ensures patients safety while sending and fetching for going procedures. Assess the patient and check the wound site if there’s any bleeding post procedure.

Reports all observation or any abnormalities of the patient to Registered Nurse/Doctors.

Acts as in-charge in the reception area and displays a professional attitude at all times.

Delegation of staff for the smooth running of the department. Resolves conflict and reporting appropriately.

Ensures that all equipments and machines (E-trolley) in the unit are checked on a daily basis.

Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by Nurse Manager.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

-Assists in:

*Admission, transfer and discharge of patients.

*Manages and coordinates patient’s discharges.

*Patient care activities e.g. observing,monitoring and reporting of patients’ conditions and progress. Escalate and notify registered nurse of all unusual and/or untoward observations or happenings.

*Preparation of trolleys and equipment for ward-based procedures e.g. blood culture, cvp/picc,intra-pleural drain,lumbar puncture,etc.

*Perioperative care,e.g.preoperative operation,sending and receiving patients from operating theatres/endoscopy.

*Cardiopulmonary resuscitation,perform rescue ventilation with bag-valve mask device and external cardiac massage.

-Maintains safe environment through the use of quality assurance and risk management strategies.

-Respects the values,customs,spiritual beliefs and practices of individuals and groups.

-Practices within own level of competence to promote safety of self and patients.

-Applies critical thinking skills within a problem solving context.

-Supports, collaborates and cooperates with team members and other healthcare professionals.

-Precepts,mentors and/or orientates students,newly joined or graduated enrolled nurses.

-Demonstrates proper use and care of equipments.

_Contributes to the review and development of clinical standards and guidelines.
