168 hours of Pain management and Palliative Care. Worked with Dr. Zaw and Dr. Sanchez to manage chronic pain and end of life. In the morning, we would do round on patients and see how their pain was being managed and make adjustments if needed. In addition, we would address Palliative care and end of life decisions. In the afternoon, we would see patients in the pain clinic.
January- April 2018 Duxlink Health (Cardiology) Sunrise, Florida
244 hours of telemedicine for Dr. Chen who is a cardiologist. During this clinical rotation, I would precept with a nurse practitioner who would go to varies nursing homes throughout Broward to assess patients. Duxlink provided cardiology care for numerous facilitates and at home for some patients in the hopes to prevent re-admissions to the hospitals. My duties included reviewing the chart, history, labs and assessing the patient to be able to develop an appropriate plan of care and order diagnostic tests if necessary.
May- August 2018 Sylvester Cancer Center Miami, Florida
244 Hours of Hematology/Oncology. During my last semester, I was able to precept with a nurse practitioner who worked with three physicians. I was able to experience patients who had head/neck cancers, lung cancers, breast cancer, gastric cancers (varies forms) and some lymphomas and anemias. I was able to assess these patients and manage them and became familiar with the NCCN guidelines.
